My Morning Wake-Up Call

Over the past week, there's been a flurry of activity outside our windows.

Because they are tinted, there's certain times of the year that birds take a fancy to seeing themselves and will constantly fly at at the windows or knock with their beaks while they chatter and chirp.  Right now, that time just happens to be in the morning.  It's pretty entertaining for sure.
Today's breakfast was oatmeal with bananas.

I decided to do some cleaning in the kitchen this morning and, as often happens, it turned into a 5 hour spree.  Sometimes I just have to go with the urge to tackle chores I've been putting off for far too long, because it doesn't happen often.
After all that cleaning, I was ready for lunch so while cooking up some green beans, I sauteed chopped garlic and crushed walnuts in olive oil; heated up leftover rice with some soy sauce, then tossed it all together.  Super easy and yummy!

I caught a glimpse of happiness, and saw it was a bird on a branch, fixing to take wing.

Wishing you a happy Wednesday!

What a beautiful bird!

I've been eating oatmeal every morning for breakfast lately. I don't like hot oatmeal, so I do the overnight oats in the fridge. In the morning I stir in a little bit of pure maple syrup, lots of cinnamon, a mixture of flax, chia and hemp seeds, raw pumpkin seeds, either walnuts or raw almonds, and some kind of fruit. Sometimes it's a banana, other times a chopped up apple, tangerine, or pomegranate seeds.

Your quick and easy lunch looks and sounds good. I'm going to write that one down so I don't forget. I'm eating my lunch right now...a big mixed greens salad with some roasted eggplant, avocado and feta. Weird combo, I know but I basically will eat anything on a salad.

Going on a walk after lunch. The sun is actually out and it's warm here today for December (50F).

Dearest Tammy,
Often we can do a lot with simple leftovers and having cooked rice on hand or even frozen in little portions, works magic too.
You're always clever and handy in this regard.
Those birds are a joy to observe.
Hugs,
Mariette

Your breakfast and lunch look delicious. My dinner tonight will be oatmeal with bananas and walnuts as Dennis won't be eating with me.
Such lovely birds. We only have a few sparrows left around up north. Surpriseingly I also saw a few quail last week. They usually aren't seen in the winter.
Blessings,
Betsy

Your morning visitor is awesome! That’s a great way to start the day. I know what you mean about the cleaning. When the mood strikes you definitely have to go with it. It always feels good to have a long delayed chore complete.

I would love to have a bird visit me at the window like that. I like oats for breakfast too I usually prepare it the night before mixed with fruit and yogurt. The lunch sounds tasty and good that its quick and easy. I really get the urge to do housework either I usually do the whole house in one go to get it over with luckily it's a small house. Have a lovely day.x
