Earth Day

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day that was organized because of growing environmental concerns.  Government agencies were established and policies were passed, but a lot has changed since 1970 and it's obvious that there's a whole lot more that needs to be done to protect people and the planet.
Today's prompt for the art challenge was mountains.
I thought advice from a mountain would be an appropriate sentiment for earth day.
Took myself on a walk around the neighborhood so I could leave a little love and photograph my mountain doodles in natural surroundings.
An awake heart is like a sky that pours light.

Living intentionally.
Planting gardens.
Connecting with nature.
Conserving and repurposing.
Simple ways that we can celebrate Mother Earth every day.

Happy Wednesday,

Challenge Complete (or so I thought)

One of the local craft supply stores hosted a 30 day art challenge that started on March 23rd.
The goal was to be creative with a prompt a day,
I made it through day 8 but then got some news that made me feel quite anxious so dropped the ball on the whole thing until my friend, Aruna, sent me a link on the 15th of April letting me know that it was World Art Day.
After reading the article, I decided to jump right back in and catch up with the prompts I'd missed,
days 9 through 24.  And then I continued on.
Day 25: Coffee
Day 26: Grapes where I showcased my crocheted doll from Tblisi, Georgia and handmade jug from Sofia, Bulgaria, both bought on trips we took last year.
Day 27: Pigeon
Day 28: Donut
I crocheted a donut coaster and made vegan chocolate donuts from a recipe by Nora Cooks.
Day 29: Cat
Jingles, of course.  My green-eyed girl and a couple of tiny cross-stitchings.
And the prompt for today, day 30, the final day of the challenge is kiwi.
But, it turns out, it's actually not the final day!
Darn! :)
I was glad it was over.
Aruna let me know that there are actually prompts until the end of the month so guess I'll have to put my creative thinking cap on til then.

Have a good Tuesday.

Joy Spotting

Hello Friends!
I figured it was high time I checked in here since my last post was 6 weeks ago.
I hope you are faring well wherever you are.
We've been in lockdown since March 14th and have had an evening curfew in place for many weeks now.
I've been keeping myself busy with cross-stitch and crochet.
Did you know that daisies fold their petals at night and open up with the morning sun?
I sure didn't until I watched them from my bedroom window.
I grew daisies from seed on my balconies and as they've dried up, I've collected seeds so that I can plant again next year.
Last year I planted pumpkin seeds and one of the vines came back this year.

I get blooms but nothing else.
Although walking paths, parks and the beaches have been closed to discourage gatherings, I still sometimes take a walk around my neighborhood.
Yellow is the color of sunshine, hope and happiness.
Will keep this short for today.
And be back with more tomorrow.
From  my house to yours, with love,
