Scrambling and Sauntering

Tofu Scramble
Something I've wanted to make for awhile.
And today was the day!
Heat a little olive oil in a skillet.  Crumble in firm tofu and add spices (I used cumin, creole seasoning, turmeric, garlic powder, salt & pepper).  Add whatever veges you have on hand (I added green pepper, garlic, onion, spinach, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes).

It was really yummy!
Definitely will be making it again.

Headed out for a walk at noontime.
Very cloudy with a nice breeze and a chance for rain.
(Only felt a few sprinkles while walking but there were a couple of quick little showers after I got home.)
I wound up wandering a part of the neighborhood that I hadn't been to in awhile and stumbled across this unexpected artwork.
I mentioned before that I'm on the lookout for certain colors when I'm out because of the "colors of the week" posts on Instagram.
I also have a thing for doors so these were my #whiteandblacksunday finds.
Have seen this trumpet vine a couple of times before growing in random places.
Possibly Datura (a/k/a moonflower or devil's trumpet)?
Nature always finds a way.
Happy is the man who has acquired the love of walking for its own sake!

Last Crafty Saturday

Hard to believe it's the last Saturday of the year.
This morning I met with my craft group at Soul Coffee Bar for some outdoor stitching.
Just 4 of us today as a lot of people have traveled for the holidays.
Except for the flies that are all over the place right now, it was a gorgeous day for sitting outside.
Gave our barista a coffee cup coaster before we left.  I've got a bunch of them that I will be giving out in the new year, along with all the hearts I make.

Looking forward to many more crafty mornings and moments in 2019!
Have a good Saturday!

Lunch in the City

My husband's lunch plan was to go into the city to a restaurant that was his dad's favorite (although one I have never been too keen on).  When we got there, a sign on the door read "we apologize for the inconvenience ..."
Turns out, the restaurant had closed for good as of December 23rd.

Darn!  :)
Plan B.
We walked across the highway to an area of old homes that were turned into restaurants many years ago (definitely more to my liking).
We decided to dine at V10 (Villa 10 Restaurant) for Lebanese food.
Lentil soup, fattoush and hummus trio with bread.
So very yummy and filling.
While waiting for our food, I did what I always do.
CROCHET!
(Even our waiters commented on it.)
The tree outside was the perfect spot for a heart.
An unexpected detour, but a nice little afternoon outing.

Happy Friday!

Christmas Day

My first gift today was opening up our bedroom curtains to find a merry morning moon right outside the window.
And on the other side of the house was gift number two ... a beautiful rising sun.
A quiet day since my husband was at work.  Tuesday is the middle of the work week in our corner of the world.
Just me and Jingles hanging out since neither of our boys ventured this way for the holidays.
Such gorgeous weather for a walk.
 I left some hanging hearts.
Humming Christmas carols as I enjoyed this glorious day.
(The charm bracelet above was a gift from a friend.)

Hope you're having a merry day!

Cookie Festival and Cats

Good morning!
(or afternoon, whatever the case may be)
My good friend, Melissa, had her annual cookie festival today.
She does all the baking and we go home with all the goodies.
(My husband is very happy as he is the one who will be eating them all.)
Meet Misk.
She loves to greet all visitors and climbs on all the tables.
Picasso was rescued as a baby and has such beautiful markings.
And the most recent rescue is Nugget, who moved around too much to get a really clear shot.
After being gone for 5 hours, this is what I came home to.
Jingles fast asleep, which is what I feel like doing since it gets dark so early.
But Fridays' full moon and the Winter Solstice means that longer days and shorter nights are on the way.

Blessings of light and love,
