Joy Spotting

Hello Friends!
I figured it was high time I checked in here since my last post was 6 weeks ago.
I hope you are faring well wherever you are.
We've been in lockdown since March 14th and have had an evening curfew in place for many weeks now.
I've been keeping myself busy with cross-stitch and crochet.
Did you know that daisies fold their petals at night and open up with the morning sun?
I sure didn't until I watched them from my bedroom window.
I grew daisies from seed on my balconies and as they've dried up, I've collected seeds so that I can plant again next year.
Last year I planted pumpkin seeds and one of the vines came back this year.

I get blooms but nothing else.
Although walking paths, parks and the beaches have been closed to discourage gatherings, I still sometimes take a walk around my neighborhood.
Yellow is the color of sunshine, hope and happiness.
Will keep this short for today.
And be back with more tomorrow.
From  my house to yours, with love,

All those pops of yellow really brighten things up and shout "Spring!" I love that crocheted daffodil. So cute! Thanks for making me smile today.

Hi Tammy ~ You busy little bee... look at the wonderful things you have created. I love the flowers in the vase. You have used your time in lockdown well.

I enjoy keeping up with my blog. Seems that my only "outside" world right now. Also doing a lot more reading in God's Word, and have been underlining passages ith my color pencils. Especially in the Psalms.
Looking forward to the day we can resume life outside. With our masks on, I do take my dearest out for short walks. Really need the exercise.
Have a good day...This too shall pass.

Hi Tammy! It's good to see you visit and see the loveliness on your balcony. Also good to know that you're well. I tried to save my marigold seeds and replant them but no luck at all. I don't know if I'll have flowers this year as I don't want to go to the nursery to buy them.
Take care and I'll look forward to hearing from you again soon.
Blessings,
Betsy

Dearest Tammy,
Yes, we all got our wings clipped so to speak... may we soon know other times again.
Love your flower pictures and they are little miracles of hope around us.
New life unfolding every single day.
We got flooding again after tornado- and thunder storms. We have no damage but have to run the wet vacs again; 3rd time this year.
Luckily we did not yet put the rug back on the tiles and all furniture...
Made us some chocolate yesterday with diced dried apricot, desiccated coconut and chopped hazelnuts in.
Those are the little joys for enjoying together.
Sending you hugs and stay well.
Am about to start hitting the keyboard for the Manuscript. Our graphic designer will soon have my template designed for starting on it... Mega Task for self publishing our updated scientific book. But that too gets done; maybe perfect for staying focused during these times.
Yes we went to a big wedding on the 14th in Augusta and next day the curfew and social distancing started here...

Came over to your blog from Teresa Kasner's. Those crochet hearts are similar to the ones I've been making. I hang them by my front garden wall for people to take, to spread the love. I've had some lovely comments from people and a rainbow picture and some sweets from a little 8 year old girl. If I can put a smile on someone's face at this frightening time, I'm happy. Take care. Stay safe. x

I enjoyed seeing the flowers that inspire some of your crocheting. Yellow is such a sunny colour. I'm growing marigolds from seed. I did know that daisies open and close in response to the light. The Old English name for the daisy was 'day eye' I like all the varieties of daisy, but the common white is my favourite. The grass verges around our neighbourhood are full of dandelions and daisies as the grass is not being cut by the city council and I think they look better than when neatly trimmed.

You are creating beautiful things in this strange time. Yellow is such a cheering colour, and goodness knows the world needs all the cheering we can give. Love that crocheted daffodil!

Hi Tammy... why the long absence, my friend? I missed you! How are your boys doing with the shut down? I loved each and every photo, the pretty real flowers and I adored your crocheted daffodil!! Your balcony is looking very inviting! I bet you are missing all your crafty group get-togethers. I'm actually enjoying waking up and knowing I don't have a meeting to rush off to. Sending love your way. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Tammy - I was starting to get worried about you, so I am glad to see you posting again. Good for you to collect seeds and re-plant. I am not surprised that the pumpkin seeds only produce flowers and no fruit - so many of these varieties have been "engineered" so much that the only create fruit for one generation. But the flowers are still pretty!
