The weekend has arrived, a quiet Friday morning, no rushing out the door for school. The perfect time to bake up some cranberry scones.
Lightly flour a cookie sheet. Mix together 3 cups of flour, 3 TBS sugar 1 tsp baking soda and 1/2 tsp salt. Cut in 1 stick of unsalted butter until it resembles fine meal. Add 1/3 cup raisins or dried cranberries. Then mix in 1 large lightly beaten egg and 3/4 cup of buttermilk. Flour hands or surface and either roll and pat into shape (which I do) or pat dough 3/4 inch thick and use a cookie cutter. Brush tops with buttermilk and bake about 15 minutes or til golden.
Oldest son requested scrambled eggs to go along with his scones which he topped with butter.
Picky son number 2 doesn't like cranberries or scones so he wanted chapati with tea and milk.
Black coffee and a scone with honey for hubby.
And for me, scones topped with orange marmalade.
Blue skies welcomed June's arrival.
But those quickly turned to gray yesterday.
And then a bright orange at one point.
Now we are back to gray. Thankful for the weekend and time. Hope you have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend. Best wishes and blessings, Tammy

Hi Tammy,
Your breakfast sounds great, the scones and scrambled eggs - sometimes it is like being a short order cook.
Hope that you can have the sun shine brightly for the weekend and have a wonderful weekend
Hugs
Carolyn
Those look delicious Tammy! I always thought that scones were hard to make, I might just have to try this! Have a wonderful weekend, xoxoxoxo
What a yummy breaksfast...nothing like homemade goods to satisfy the tummy. I made french toast with sausage on the side/grilled hashbrowns. It held me over for 6 hours. My life has been a never ending hustle of dentist/dr, scuba diving lessons, mommy stuff, school stuff and trying to squeeze workouts in between. I'm getting dizzy. Wish it would end, for a little while at least. Hope you have a great weekend.
Wow, you're kinder than I - we rarely ever prepare a breakfast at our house. Neither Sarah nor I are breakfast eaters - never have been. I force myself to eat something when I get to work, but on our days off, there is nothing until lunchtime and even then everyone is pretty much on their own, unless we eat out.
Hope the blue skies return for you. I love the palm trees you have. :)
Hi Tammy, as always your delights me "suggestions", ha, ha. As for the weather and climate, here where I live, Puertorico, an island in the Caribbean, uos years now, it happens that the winds of the Sahara dust arastran and near an island called Monserratte there that has a volcano that was active at times and the air is contaminated, seasonal, I'm starting to worry, as I had never experienced these Experiences, people begin to suffer from allergies and diseases in ways respiratory etc, there is environmental pollution in these unprecedented times, right?, Greetings, Rose Marie
I love weekends...and scones. These cranberry ones look great! I'll take mine plain, no butter, with coffee please. :)
Those skies are beautiful & yum to scones.
Your cranberry scones look lovely. Scones are the ultimate in comfort food for me. I like them by themselves, no butter or jam, but definitely with a cup of coffee or tea. Yummy!
Have a fabulous weekend.
Maureen
I'm with you. I seldom do not have a jar of orange marmelade in the house. I love it with English muffins (or scones, if I'm lucky). Hope your weekend turns out lovely. Diane
Yummy, Tammy. I'm gonna make those scones as DH loves cranberry scones. Tanks for the recipe ;)
Happy Weekend to you~
Your short order breakfasts sound delicious. We have a couple of those picky kids around here too :-)
Have a wonderful weekend!
Blessings,
Marcia
Your breakfasts sound wonderful. I too have picky kids. Hopefully they'll grow out of it, but my darling hubby hasn't yet.
Have a wonderful weekend.
You have as many skies as you have ways to eat a scone :)
Something for everyone :)
Happy weekend!
LOVE SCONES, AND MARMALADE, AND A NICE HOT CUP OF TEA. I'LL SAY A PRAYER FOR YOU..NO MORE DUST..
TAKE CARE, HAVE A GREAT WEEK. RIZZI
I like marmalade with toast...YUM! It's Sunday morning, I haven't had breakfast yet, and now I'm craving scrambled eggs. :)
Those scones look delish!
My aunt makes them all the time...maybe I'll surprise her with a batch now!
Tammy - I love cranberry scones - they are my very favorite! Thanks for this recipe~~ They will be great with the orange mamelade. When we hiked in the Rockies - we had a picnic on one of our trips and ate cranberry scones and marmelade!
