Moonbeams and Simple Things

Did you see the partial lunar eclipse last night? I used my husband's Canon PowerShot SX30 to take this photo. My little digital just makes moon shots look like a blob in the sky.

The boys and I are in full summer vacation mode, staying up late and sleeping in. It's so nice to have time to enjoy the simple things.

Bird watching.

Trying out a basketweave dishcloth pattern.

And cooking. Cornbread goes great with a yummy bean salad.

Mix together 1/3 cup of olive oil, 2/3 cup of vinegar, 6 TBS of sugar, 1 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp pepper. Combine 4 cans of any kinda beans you like along with one small purple onion and one small green pepper chopped. Toss with the dressing and refrigerate for several hours before serving.

Hope you have a terrific Thursday! Friendship blessings, Tammy

I didn't see it but Hannah was going to try. One of my favorite things about summer is not having any early morning schedule to keep. I wake up and start my day by checking on my friends and then start on orders or new items for etsy. Everyone else sleeps in and right now the house is perfectly still. bliss!
Have a great day! t. xoxo

Apparently, the lunar eclipse was only seen in Europe and Asia, but not here in Guatemala or the South of the American Continent. Pity! It must have been quite a show.
That salad looks fabulous! We sure have PLENTY of beans around Guatemala! so that should not be hard to find :o)
Enjoy your resting days!...lucky gal!

I tried to take a photo last night with my digital. Yes, blob in the sky about covers it! AND I've been thinking about a new camera so will check out the Canon today. Sometimes you just NEED to have a better focus feature!

Ah, summer morning stillness. I can recall when the kids slept late and my morning was blissfully peaceful...time to watch the birds, grab another cuppa, and scratch the dog behind the ears (although she would have rather slept).

Have a dreamy day.

You got a great shot of the eclipse Tammy. I didn't see it and I'm surprised. Usually I'm up on those things. The meal looks good. Enjoy your days. Diane

Magnificent shot of that lunar eclipse! I wish I could sleep in (I've got the staying up part down), but my 5 month old doesn't quite get sleeping in yet.

I had a neighbor text me about the eclipse last night, but I was already zonked out. I missed it. She told me this morning that the moon disappeared for 20 minutes. She said it was amazing.
Your bean salad looks very familiar. I am thinking i have that recipe. Could I have given it to you??? I made that same salad a few weeks back. YUMMY!! I made a new one this week - Armenian tabbouleh. It was fantastic. I served it to my stitch group and everyone there asked for the recipe. I will have to send it your way.
Glad you are enjoying your summer days!! Sleep late, my friend!!!!!

Love ya,
Renee

Hi Tammy,
We weren't able to see the lunar eclipse over here :-( I bet it was beautiful. I read it was the longest one at 1 hour and 40 minutes. So cool that you were able to enjoy it. Happy Summer Vacation!

Hugs and Kisses,

Thanks for stopping by my blog! It's nice to meet you. I know how mail can sometimes not be too reliable. We lived in South American when I was a girl... sometimes we got packages but mostly we didn't, so we told people not to send them.

Sounds so cozy with your boys having summerholidays... And your cat looks very cute having fun time looking at the birds.
Unfortunately I couldn´t see the lunar eclipse. It´s too light here. No night now. Polarsun :)
Have a wonderful day! ( I wish it could be warmer here... )

Your Summer sounds like it is off to a blissful start! Reading your post made me feel like I was on holidays for a few minutes. Great to have you popping by my blog. The felting of the crochet flower was ok, but if you can, make a few and then use your washing machine! MUCH easier!

I hadn't heard of the eclipse and am so disappointed as I do love to go and see them when I know about it. There was one a few months ago that got a lot of press and stayed up taking pictures till early hour morning.

Is it still extremely hot there? It got up to the 94 here which is hot for Colorado but not for me as NM can get past 100. We are terribly dry here and are fighting several very large fires in our area so the haze is a bit much.

Thanks for the salad recipe! It sounds yummy and easy- which I love!

Great shot of the eclipse! No, we didn't see that here, but I heard there's another on the west coast this year, on Sarah's 16th Birthday (December 10). :)

Loved seeing your photos. I make a similar bean salad but mine has sweet pickles in it as well and some other things. Yummy.

Yippee for summer vacation and lazier days! :D Hope you have a marvelous time.
