The sun has begun to set on a drizzly day here. Just enough rain to cool things off and thankfully not cause any messes.
Such a change from yesterday which was a short-sleeved weather kinda day. Zack had baseball practice and is enjoying being catcher. (He loves rolling in the dirt!)
I snapped photos of the all the beautiful flowers that are blooming right now. I think they are pansies, but I could be wrong. They are great for planting now since our temperatures have been mild for so long.
My stomach is still not right so I made what used to be one of my family's favorite soups. The kids have decided they don't like it so much anymore.
Lentil soup with potatoes, onions and carrots, seasoned with cumin and served with a squeeze of lemon juice. A hearty soup that is good on a cool, rainy day.
I'm watching Meet the Press about the shooting in Tucson. Such a senseless tragedy. I don't understand how someone can randomly take their anger out on anyone and everyone in their path. A sweet little girl born on September 11, 2001 lost her life in this shooting. She was the only girl on her all boy baseball team.
We shall find peace. We shall hear the angels, we shall see the sky sparkling with diamonds. Anton Chekhov, 1897
Peace and blessings, Tammy

Hi Tammy,
Yes, what a senseless tradegy. I pray for her family and everyone else involved.
The beautiful pictures of your flowers are petunias. They are wonderful and can't wait til they are blooming here too.
Tomorrow is the big day to leave for my trip! I am excited and apprehensive at the same time. I still have my ear infection and am not looking for to riding the airplane because of it!
Have a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Sonya

The soup sounds just right, glad you are on the mend.
I watched the aftermath of the shooting in Tucson, I'm am frightened and appalled by such a senseless act, my thoughts are with all the families affected.
Good Morning, Tammy: You sure have stunning sunsets and sunrises in Kuwait.
My heart, too, is heavy this morning over the senseless, stupid shooting in Tucson. So horrendous.
I love lentil soup....love, love, love it. Yours look good . I never had it with potatoes in it though. Hmmmm. Will have to try it. Susan
p.s. Tammy, I think the flowers are petunias. They sure are pretty and colorful! Susan
I see that the Petunia's have been identified. I love them, too. The purple ones really smell delightful and butterflies and hummingbirds love them!
The shooting in AZ. There are no words to describe the hurt and pain created by truly that man. Now they think there was another one? Oh, it makes NO sense and it so wasteful of lives.
I am sending you a large hug and wish I could taste your soup. Looks just so yummy!
Hugs,
Jan
Hi Tammy,
indeed, my thoughts go out to all those families who are hurt by this shooting...
I count my blessings even more.
Hope you will feel better soon,
Maureen xx
Your sunsets are so lovely and the soup looks grat.
It is so upsetting to know that such a tragedy took place only 90 miles from our home. Sadly in today's society no community is immune from these senseless acts. I pray for peace in our community, country, and the world and for the families who are facing so much pain.
Hope you feel better soon.
SO SAD ABOUT TUSCAN, I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN....WHY!!
I AM GLAD YOUR ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY, IT WILL TAKE A WHILE. YOUR SOUP LOOKS SO DELICIOUS, I BET YOU FEEL SO MUCH BETTER AFTER A BOWL OF IT. YOUR FLOWERS ARE PETUNIAS. THEY GROW IN SAND DOWN THE SHORE IN NJ, VERY HEARTY FLOWER. WELL FEEL BETTER, RIZZI
What a horror that took place in Arizona. I cannot begin to comprehend, it makes no sense. I'm glad you are up and about, hope very soon you are back at 100%. Blessings to you, blessings to our world.
Yes, another senseless tragedy in this broken, decaying world that we live in. I also feel sorry for the parents or family of the young man who did this - he is someone's son, and I always think about that when these things happen and how horrible it would be to raise a child and have them grow up to do such a horrific thing. :(
The petunias are lovely - we still have several months before we'll have those growing here again - still a few months of winter to go, since even March and April can bring snows and cold days in Illinois.
Hope you have a wonderful new week.
Linda
Yes, of all the stories the little girl breaks my heart the most. Your soup looks wonderful. I Always celebrate my whole birthday month! Twyla
The flowers are beautiful. Even after the brief snow we had, mine are still blooming. That's the desert for you. I'm so glad you're feeling better.
My heart also broke to see the news about that shooting. So sad for those families.
Blessings,
Marcia
Listening to the news here you would think that the only one shot was the congresswoman. I keep thinking what about those other souls, the ones who died and the ones who are suffering and their families. Thanks for mentioning it so well on your post.
Your soup looks great and the flowers are beautiful. Blessings on the week Tammy. Diane
Hi Tammy,
So sorry to hear that you are still not feeling well and yes, a pot of soup can often do the trick.
I do hope that you are feeling better.
The flowers are petunias and I have purple and white growing in my window boxes and they do seem to not mind the heat too much.
Yes, sorry to hear about the awful shooting, so sad.
Happy week
Hugs
Carolyn
Sorry that virus bug has not entirely left you... soup is always good.. I'm with the other gals..those are petunias
I just made some lentil soup too....I think I caught your bug!! Feel better soon.
I can't believe you are getting drops of rain. We have not had a single drop here in probably 6-8 weeks now. I am glad there was not enough rain to create havoc in the house. Zack looks TOO happy playing in the dirt. Hope you had as much fun as he did at the practice.
Your soup looks just like mine. I made lentil soup last week, just like yours, but it put it through the blender. I am still eating from it, as the boys have turned up their noses to it. Their loss...
Hope you enjoyed your soup!!
Love ya,
Renee
