A Whole Lot of Walking

A beautiful cloud-filled sky first thing this morning.
For breakfast I made a blueberry mug cake that a former co-worker posted about on Instagram.
The original recipe is from Five Heart Home.
1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar (I used one TBS of coconut sugar)
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup milk, at room temperature (I used almond milk)
2 tablespoons salted butter, melted and cooled (I substituted and only used 1 TBS of coconut oil)
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (didn't have vanilla so used almond extract; I also added some cinnamon)
Scant 1/4 cup fresh blueberries (I used frozen)
Microwave for 1 minute 20 seconds.
I always rub the inside of the mug with coconut oil so the mug cake pops right out.
Mixed some powdered sugar and lemon juice together to make a drizzle.
Really yummy!

Went for a very long walk at about 9:30 a.m.
And made a new friend along the way.
I even walked the several blocks home to bring food back for him but all he really wanted was some TLC so I pet him for just a little bit.

Another kitty looking very sad and scared, but was very happy to have food.
There's so many abandoned pets and feral kitties.  If only we could save them all.
A sweet drawing by one of our young patients at the hospital.
After my husband got home from work and we had lunch, we went for an afternoon walk.

My grand total for the day:
6.7 miles
18,174 steps

Have a super Saturday!

Thanks for loving the kitties. That would break my heart. It has been below freezing lately and our neighbor left his cat out. I worried all day and was about to scoop him up when they came home. :) Kit

You are my hero. Feeding and loving those sweet kitties. How can people just ignore those poor little babies? Your cake in a mug looks and sounds delicious. Good for you taking long walks. I miss that and I’m hoping my back is better by summer so I can walk more. I hope you have a lovely weekend Tammy.
Blessings,
Betsy

Wow! You put the miles on today! It's so beautiful where you are and it is snowing here! LOL! It always amazes me how the world is so different...even in weather from one side of the world to the other. But I am loving my snow!
That mug cake looks delicious. It would be perfect for me who lives alone....I'm going to try it! Thank you!

Dearest Tammy,
Would have loved to walk beside you... looks so beautiful except the heartbreaking kitty encounters along the road.
Can't imagine that people can abandon such critters and WHY not spay and neuter them?!
Sending you hugs,
Mariette

Look at you.. walking so many miles! I think you are an angel to carry cat food for the homeless and feral kitties. We've had several cats show up here on the farm and live in our barn.. there is a black cat living in there now. People from the city drive out here and throw out their unwanted cats expecting for them to get taken in by the nice country people. Rotten people.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Poor kitties....I'm so glad you reach out to help them, Tammy. I hope there are more people like you in the area. Makes me sad.

That mug cake looks delicious! I assume you defrosted the blueberries first before adding them to the mix? I must try it. Thanks for the recipe! :)

Well done on all that walking! I miss walking...torn hip tendon flares up. I see the orthopaedic doctor next week though so hopefully, I will finally get something done about it. It's been two years since my fall.

Do you use a Fitbit or Apple watch or something to count your steps? My mobile phone counts mine but I'm thinking of getting a FitBit.

Hope you have a great week! xo
