Comfort Food Required

Yesterday Creative Carmelina posted a recipe for cheese biscuits that I decided to make along with my chickpea, tomato and pasta soup. Although they didn't turn out looking like hers (maybe because I used wheat flour), they were really good with a nice big bowl of hot soup.

After 9 days off, it was back to school today for me and the boys. Seems that cold and flu season has arrived as so many of my co-workers returned sniffling and sneezing. I was the gimpy one limping my way through the day. Sure wish homemade soup could make my ankle feel better.

Here I am when we first arrived to the hotel in Bentota. Little did I know what was to come.

Besides the ankle sprain, I have an allergy to the sun. When I was younger, I would get fever blisters around my lips. I grew out of that in my 20's but after the age of 40, I started getting an itchy, blistery rash.

Even though I was only on the beach for about an hour and a half watching the boys, and it was a cloudy day, I am still suffering the consequences.

I sure could use one of these right now.

Guess I'll go eat some more of these.

Hope your Sunday is a good one.

Between the sprained ankle and being allergic to the sun, I think you certainly deserve a nice, cold beer! What a lovely picture of you with the beach in the background.

DANG.....did you have a target on your back???? I'm thinkin' more beer is the answer, too!

Lovely beach photos and your soup sounds yummy. We've been on a soup kick lately, too.

GET BETTER!!!!!

Dearest Tammy,

Your wheatflour biscuits look great to me and they are far more healthy! I even use whole wheat for all my cookies.
Hoping that your ankle will soon feel better.
Love to you,

Mariette

It looks like the boys are having a wonderful time in that beautiful water.

If your yummies don't work I suggest hot chocolate and oatmeal - my favorite comfort foods. Hope you're healing soon. Diane

Glad to see you are back home. Nothing like a little vaca from a vaca. What a wonderful time it looks like you all had. Glad to have you back around. OK, seriously, I need to go to IKEA because my crochet lamp bulb burned out last night. It only take Swedish bulbs or something crazy like that. But, you never know what else I may just find there.

Cheers,
Kate

Tammy, how fun that you found My Cozy Kitchen! I answered your question on my blog (comments).

Enjoy a relaxing day! Soup looks good! I hope your ankle is healing well. I broke my foot a year ago and it took a good six months to feel much better. Hang on! It will get better (eventually).

Hi Gimpy!

Hope your ancle is on the mend. I hurt the bottom of my right foot a few months back, and it took forever to heel!, oops, I meant to say heal! Pardon the punn.

Your wheat biscuits look great, they are the healthier version of mine! I really should use whole wheat flour more often than I do, but....

Take care sweetie. You are really too kind to have mentioned me, I'm flattered!
Have a great day.

That soup does look quite comforting, I may have some for my supper! I would love a brew, too bad I can't do that anymore :(

That beach looks so warm and inviting... sigh...

Hi Tammy,

Hi Tammy,
The soup and biscuits look delicious. I sympathize with your sun allergy. I get awful migranes from sun exposure...even just a little bit of exposure. I walk around with huge sunglasses, a hat, and an umbrella just to avoid getting migraines. I'm a sight for sore eyes! :)

Tammy, I 'm so sorry to hear you are suffering a sun allergy on top of a sprained ankle. How horrible for you! I hope you heal up quickly. xo

That's a beautiful photo of you!

That homemade soup looks SO delicious! I'm sure the biscuits would have been lovely with it too.

Love,
Serena xo

It is curious how some conditions tend to get back after you thought you got rid of them for good !!The photos are fantastic - too bad you couldn't enjoy to the fullest. I don't have any sun related conditions but I cannot stand it any more as I could when I was younger, so even when at the beach I am under the deepest shadows with hats, and glasses and whatnots.
Wishing you a happy start of the week Tammy!

Being a solar powered woman I think having a sun allergy would be "awful". I got fever blisters too years ago. Since the invention of lip balm with strong spf factor I don't get them anymore.
Your soup looks delicious and oh I love cheese biscuits (red lobster makes melt in the mouth ones)
Have a good week!
