Bentota Beach

Our previous trips to Sri Lanka have taken us to its largest city of Colombo;

Kandy where the elephant orphanage is found;

and the tea plantations of Nuwara Eliya.

But this time, we decided to head to the beach in Bentota.

Yusef tried surfing for the first time.

Zack enjoyed digging holes in the sand.

And hubby and I did some beach exploration.

At the end of a beautiful day, we watched the sun set from our balcony.

And then, the accident happened. We were heading downstairs for dinner, Zack tripped on his shoestrings, pushed me from behind and I missed the last two stairs, landed wrong and twisted my ankle. It immediately began to swell and has gotten worse in the days since.

It's one thing when you twist your ankle at home, but when you are on vacation and unable to walk properly, it means your beachcombing days are over.

Today and tomorrow I will rest as much as I can.

Today is Veteran's Day (thanks to all our military men and women) and it is also my brother's 44th birthday (Happy Birthday, Eric).

Wishing you all a fabulous Friday. Peace & blessings, Tammy

Oh you poor thing! What rotten luck to twist your ankle on holidays. I hope you at least get to sit on the beach and soak up some sunshine! You sure saw some beautiful things ~ oh those elephants ~ fun!

Hope you didn't break something in your ankle! Maybe should have it checked out if it doesn't improve.

Loved reading about your vacation and seeing the photos. :)

Lovely photos...I was SURE you'd shoe one of your swollen ankle!!!! Or not.......
Surfing, hole digging (awesome) and just walking on the beach. Perfect.
What is that orange thing on the beach? It has wonderful texture!
Rest well. Too bad you don't have a nice cold beer to ease the pain.
Hugs

So sorry to hear you got hurt! I broke my toe on a beach vacation a few years ago, and that hindered me much more than you would expect. I hope your ankle heals quickly.

Tammy- this looks like it "could" have been the most perfect vacation--- so sorry about your ankle. What rotten luck- do take care of yourself. I know it is a disappointment-- I have similar luck- ( broke my toe while we were at the beach a few weeks ago!)

Hope they all wait on you hand and "foot"!
xoxo

Beautiful pictures and the perfect beach, so sorry your fun ended too soon. I hope you are keeping your foot up and not walking on it, sounds like a sprain, you poor dear. (I remember when I did mine in and crawling to the bathroom, before I could locate a walker - it wasn't much fun)

Dearest Tammy,

Hope Zack will from now on tie his shoe laces properly and prevent this from happening again!
Poor you as this is such a precious time you'd been looking forward to. So much needed as an change from your balcony outings into free space with water and calm.
Hope things go better soon.
Love to you and it's so sweet of you to send this out on Veterans Day!

I'll bet Zack feels terrible that his own tripping caused you to twist your ankle. I hope it's feeling much better today. Were you able to get hold of some crutches?

I LOVED all of your photos, Tammy...what an amazing place to visit.

Love,
Serena xo
