Friday Fruits and Finding Fall

On Friday, hubby likes to go grocery shopping early in the morning. He always comes home with lots of fruit that I immediately wash up and place in bowls on the dining table. I figure if everyone can see it, they are more likely to eat it.

That means the fruit we already had needs to be used in other ways, so I made a banana cake.

And an apple berry crisp.

The great thing about a crisp is you can throw any kinda fruit together and the topping doesn't have to be in exact measurements.
Plus, if you crisp it up a little too much, it still tastes great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

I received an sms from our local craft store that said "Happy News! Arrived huge shipment of knitting yarns and Catania cotton." I don't really need any new yarn, but I decided to head over to check out the selection and came home with some in Fall-like colors.

Our daytime temps are still hot. It's 108 right now and a bit humid, but our night time temperatures are getting better. According to the weather report, our low tonight will be 79. That must be when I am sleeping because I haven't felt it yet.

Hope you are having a super Saturday! I'm off to whip up a few dishcloths. Happy Fall! Friendship blessings, Tammy

HAPPY FALL TO YOU MY FRIEND........I LOVE ALL YOUR YARN........THE COLORS ARE SO FALL........
YOUR BAKING IS SO DELICIOUS LOOKING........I REMEMBER AS A CHILD MY MOM MADE APPLE BROWN BETTY, WITH A HARD WHITE SAUCE, VERY SIMILAR TO APPLE CRISP. THAT IS SO TRUE, PUTTING THE FRUIT OUT SO IT CAN BE SEEN, OTHERWISE IT LAYS IN THE FRIG AND GETS OVER RIPE. IT LOOKS SO REFRESHING. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND, WE STILL HAVE RAIN, VERY HUMID AND YUCKY...IT IS SO DARK, IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS 5:00 O'CLOCK PM, AND ITS ONLY 8:46 AM. TAKE CARE.....RIZZI

Happy Saturday,
In contrast to your temps, our HIGH is only 65 today. We're caught up in a horrible Low pressure system and my head knows it - Day #4 of a sickly sinus migraine, but somehow I have to pull it together today and brave the very cool, rainy temperatures and head out a bit later to support Sarah and the Marching Band in another Saturday competition. :)
The crisp that you made looks good - I'm not big on fruit, unfortunately, but will eat it occasionally.

Love the idea of the crisp. I'm at my parents now with a huge fruit bowl on the table. Think I will try it!
And...love your kitty. I think you love yours as much as I love mine!
Have a great weekend!

I love the look of that fruit crisp, exactly how do you make it, is it muesli?
Is that a jingles little friend I see in the background. lol
I don't think I could live with those temperatures, its bad enough here in uk in the summer. My hands get so sticky, knitting and crochet at made difficult.

Wow, great yarn colors. The fruit looks very inviting, not to mention the crisp...with ice cream no less! Things are cooling down a bit here in Texas, mostly in the evening. The only time I get to notice, is when let the dog out in the backyard really early in the morning. But I know myself, in the winter I will be longing for the chance to walk around in shorts again. That's just human nature, I suppose!

Cooler weather here and I am happy about that, was a hot, humid summer for us.

Love the fruit - apricots are an expensive and hard to find item here, and one of my favorites, along with plums. That crisp looks great!

Lovely fall color colors, happy crocheting!

OH how I love fresh fruit! That apple-berry crisp looks scrumptious! I so wish I liked bananas cooked but I'm a weirdo who can only eat bananas fresh and raw. They have been so expensive here ever since the floods & cyclone wiped out plantations in North Queensland....over $10 a kilo. I am biding my time for them to come back down to a reasonable price.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you create with the wool...nice array of autumn colours.

HAPPY AUTUMN to you Tammy! The fruit photos are great, and the crisp so yummy. I love crisps so much. Some how they bring back fond memories of my school days. Haven't been around much of late, have not been a very good blogger friend I fear. Just trying hard to keep up with too many things, I guess, and not doing a very good job of it at all. :-) I wish I could send you some of our cool weather and you could send me some of that heat, and we would meet in the middle at "perfect". take care,~Debby

Hmmm. A crisp. Now that sounds like my kind of cooking. :0 Simple and fool proof. I agree about leaving the healthy foods in sight. I try and do that too and I put the cookies in a space I have to work to get to.

Thanks for stopping by BeColorful and leaving a comment on my painted cabinet. Have a great weekend.

Wow Tammy that post made me hungary, especially the crisp. Hum. My son told me that his wife found an old home in Country Living for sale in my little home town of Springfield, Kentucky. I saw your copy on another post. Check it out. It is an old historic home that I used to visit.

Tammy,
I keep our fruits on the table for the same reason. Love your yummy fruit concoctions. Have you tried cake? Paula Deen has a yummy recipe for apple cake with hot carmel topping. Very easy, just google it. Caught up with your older posts, love the fava bean breakfast. Would love that recipe.
Hope it's cooling off for you.

I was just thinking about your banana cake yesterday. We have not had any ripe bananas lately, so I am still thinking about it, rather than making it.
How nice when you get text messages from Barakat. I miss that store. Would you believe it if I told you I still have not found a craft shop here that carries everything? The best I have done is find a shop where I can buy floss for my cross stitch. Waiting for that all encompassing craft shop. I MISS MICHAELS!!!

Happy crocheting, my friend!!
Love,
Renee
