Same Name, Different Menu

On Friday while the boys were out with friends, hubby and I went to lunch.

For the past few years, my favorite restaurant for Indian cuisine has been Rangoli.

It is found behind the Radisson Blu which is going through a major renovation at the moment.

Although the restaurant is still there and still called Rangoli, it no longer serves just Indian food.

The owners of the hotel chose items from the menus of their Arabic, Chinese and Indian restaurants to offer during the remodeling period.

I asked our waitress if Rangoli would return, but she said that it would not. Only the Arabic and Chinese restaurants would be back once the hotel is finished.

I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. It is where I got the inspiration to frame an Indian quilt for the wall behind our bed since we don't have a headboard.

I chose to order the few Indian food dishes they offered. Spicy potato cakes ...

Vege curry ...

and for dessert, ginger cake ...

and Turkish coffee.

Remember how I said my crochet goes with me wherever I go.

On the way to the restaurant, waiting for our food to be served, and on the way to the plant souk afterwards, a dishcloth was complete.

With back to school, it's the only crocheting I've done lately.

Hope your week is off to a great start. Best wishes and blessings, Tammy

Such beautiful decor and a tasty lunch. I'm sorry they are doing away with the Indian cuisine. Very sad as it sound exceptional! LOVE the pretty red dishcloth! I hope you are having a wonderful day and that school was a pleasant experience today.

LOVE the colors of the resturant! I can see why you love being there and why your 'headboard' for your bedroom was inspired by it.

Ok, now I'm hungry...again. Everytime you post something with food, my stomach rumbles. In a 'good' way!

Washcloths sure go fast, don't they? The red is pretty.

Yep, got your blog comment. And I see Amy is a follower now. She's great!

Happy day. OH, I mailed the flower seeds today. Let me know if they ever arrive!?!?!

Tammy, love the color of that yarn! The inside of the restaurant is beautiful... rich colors... unusual style. I love stealing moments to have lunches like this. ;) Food looks delicious, too! Particularly the ginger cake. I'm sorry Rangoli won't be there anymore for you.

Loved your comment today and that quote: perfect!! blessings ~ tanna

My co-worker loves to take me to her favorite Indian food restaurant when we work together on the bookmobile. I too like the feeling of the place and the food looks delicious. When you shared your crochet work it made me laugh. My hubby often asks me where my needlework bag is if he thinks I might have forgotten to take it when I leave the house.

What a charming restaurant. Too bad the Indian food won't be a mainstay there in the future. Indian cuisine is one of my favorites. I guess you will just have to replicate some of those delicious looking dishes you ordered, at home! Yummy!

What a beautiful restaurant! Obviously exotic to me... Nothing quite like that in little 'ol central Oregon!!

I got such a kick out of your crochet going to the restaurant with you. My knitting travels most everywhere with me. Though I did learn that it does not belong EVERYWHERE. I made the mistake of taking it to one of those restaurants where you eat peanuts and throw the shells on the floor. They pack people in like sardines. I admit that the atmosphere was great fun but it was not fun when my ball of yarn rolled onto the floor, got tangled in chair legs, human legs and peanut shells!!!

Blessings, Debbie

That looks like a wonderful place to eat - great atmosphere and the food looks yummy, though Jim would never eat Indian food (too spicy or he's not fond of the type of spice used). But right about now after my 3-mile power walk, that is looking so very yummy. Instead, I ate an orange. blah.

It's great that you bring your crochet everywhere - making good use of your time. :)

Happy days always,
Linda

Lovely decor but it's sad that they won't be bringing the Indian cuisine back after the re-model. I LOVE Indian curries best of all!

Nice work on the dish cloth! I envy that you can crochet while travelling....I get motion sickness so can't read or focus on any tasks while in a moving vehicle because I feel instantly nauseous. :(

I wish we had known about Rangoli before I left Kuwait!! The decor inside the restaurant is just amazing. I am sure that part of the reason you like going to eat there is to look at all the beautiful decorations! Sorry they have changed the menu all around. The food you ordered looks really good. I hope the good was still good, even though the menu has changed!
Keep crocheting, my friend!!

XOXO
Renee
