Finding Time at the Textiles Exhibition

Time and internet traffic have not allowed me to post since Tuesday. Last week was a total blur -- even Zack said it went by really fast. We are now into the second half of our weekend. Where does the time go? Yesterday afternoon, hubby and I made it over to the Textiles Exhibition.

I love the mini quilts and wallhangings that display a scene or tell a story. This farm scene was inspired by a picture.

And this quilt was made from the fronts of t-shirts.

After viewing all the wonderful entries, we were to make our choice of best in show. Hubby really liked this abstract scene of a couple with umbrella.

And I chose this one depicting women in the souk with bread baskets on their heads. It looks like it was done with free motion stitching and applique. I voted on this same woman's work last year as I find her mini art quilts quite amazing.

Each piece was so inspiring! I was asked to exhibit something for the yarn and fiber part of the show but never could quite get my act together. Maybe next year! Right now, I need to find time to work on this baby afghan and get it finished before the end of the school year.

Hope you have a creative day in your corner of the world! Best wishes and blessings, Tammy

Wow! These quilts are amazing. Do they sell them? If they do, let me know. These last days of school have been flying by which I am grateful for. Looking forward to the summer break:)

Have a peaceful Saturday!

What a great exhibit. I think quilts are just amazing. I would love to take the time to make one at some point. There are a few quilters in my stitch group, and I am just in awe of their patience to work in these things. I love your choice for best in show, and I love Sam's as well. If given a vote, I would vote for the farm scene. Takes me back to my childhood on a farm, and the fact that Augumn is my favorite season.
Glad you enjoyed your weekend! It went by too quickly here!!!

XOXO
Renee

Oh, my! Such wonderful wallhangings! I totally agree with both your choice AND your husbands. The work is so detailed and there is a story behind each one. Georgeous colors, too.

Our week has whizzed by, too. Hubby has a nasty cold, the weather was gloomy, and I made art. Can't believe next week is Memorial Day here in the US.

Have a good rest of the weekend. Thanks for stopping by, too!

Hugs
Jan

What amazing pieces. I'm contemplating joining a quilting guild ... not that I quilt much mind you, the only quilt I can do is the Cathedral Window quilt. Would love to learn what I see here. Your baby blanket is so very pretty...beautiful work.

Hi Tammy: That was a lovely textile show. Some of the quilts made in the Appalachian Mountains are very beautiful. Sorry you were unable to post. Missed your daily optimism. We need that in the world, you know. Susan

After making my very first quilt for my granddaughter's nursery last year, I have a very high respect for quilters who do these intricate designs. Beautiful quilts in the pics. I find myself leaning towards the one your hubby chose but I do love the one you chose also.

Good luck with finishing the baby quilt, Tammy. When does the school year finish there?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Serena xo
