Along the Way on my Birthday

After two days in Colombo, we left this spectacular view behind so we could heard towards our next destination.

Our first pit stop was at the Elephant Orphanage.

It's always so wonderful to see these gentle creatures up close and personal.

Our friend in Colombo called his sister who lives along the route we were travelling and she graciously invited us to her home ...

for lunch.

She was told that I am vegetarian so made sure there were dishes we all could enjoy.

We spent a wonderful two hours visiting with our new friends in their lovely home.

And then it was time to say goodbye.

The final leg of our journey was to The Lavender House in Pussellawa.

What a wonderful birthday I had! This 1890's bungalow was spectacular. Even the kids were impressed! But more on that tomorrow. Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday! Best wishes and blessings, Tammy

Well, it's happened. I'm speechless.

There is nothing I can say that comes CLOSE to what these pictures depict....it's perfection.

Hi T,
I hope your trip is everything you hoped it would be. It looks like it is! You are so much braver than I would have been with the elephants. I think that I would have been scared to get that close. Now farm animals I can do, but big ginormous ones, not so much!
have a wonderful time and come home safe.
hugs

That's high! I would not feel at ease up there for sure! :o(
How thoughtful of your new friend to have prepared vegetarian dishes! I have this idea that vegetarian dishes on that side of the planet are DElicious! They certainly look yum!
Elephants! and you can pet them?! That must be an experience to remember. Envy on this side...the good kind that is :o)
Can't wait to read about the Lavender house.
have a lovely day!

you have an enchanted life don't you? How wonderful to just up and go to some exotic place and enjoy, and appreciate, all that you experience, and take us along with you, which is just wonderful. I always love the food shots Tammy...always such delicious looking things and that shot of you with the elephant is so sweet and serene...a touch between two creatures of the earth, in peace and harmony....as it should be....gave me the goosebumps!!! Can't wait for the next installment of our trip!!!!! :)

Awesome view. What a wonderful way to spend you birthday. The view from the Lavender House was just simply gorgeous. I'm sure just spending a few days there was not enough. It was nice to know that you had someone you know to visit and someone who was thoughtful enough to make you some vegetarian dishes. Nothing like eating homemade dishes. Its been annoying signing into google so just gonna sign in anonymous.

Sir Lanka is so lovely. Not at all what I would have expected. I love the picture of you at the orphanage. What a neat experience that must have been to be around such a large animal. I hope Zack enjoyed them this time. I am laughing to know that you met up with family and friends while in the country. Only you... How wonderful that you were able to experience a lunch with people who live there. I am sure that really added to the experience of being there. The Lavender House looks so unique and exceptionally wonderful. Wish I had been there with you!!

Love,
Renee
