Baseball, a Bear and Pillows in Pink

Hello sweet friends! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Yesterday the weather was very muggy and dusty for Zack's last ballgame of the season.

The game went into overtime because of a tie. It was a really good game and YEA! his team came out ahead.

Unfortunatley, they only won 4 out of 12 games so it has not been an easy season. Next weekend is closing ceremonies and the following weekend we go to Dubai for the Little League tournament. Zack is busy with lots and lots of practices right now. He's also on the Badminton team at school and has practice this morning. Travel team practice for baseball this afternoon. This, of course, means that I have to don my chauffeur hat quite a lot.

After the game yesterday, we showered and just felt the need to veg. I had such a headache. So the rest of the day was pajamas and crocheting. This is the beginnings of a bear.

Only his head right now. I'm not one for following patterns so I am just making it up as I go along. Over Spring Break, I started what was going to be a baby afghan with the Red Heart yarn that sweet Jodie sent me, but I didn't like the checkerboard pattern. The great thing about crochet is you can take it apart and start over. I used the squares instead to make small decorative pillows, combining cross-stitch with crochet (inspired by Gloria).

Yesterday I finished three and am quite pleased with how they turned out.

I am finding this easy and rewarding so am thinking to make more until I tire of the process and need to find a new direction in crafting. Like everything else in life, I go through phases. Wishing you all a beautiful day. Peace & blessings, Tammy

Tammy,
Love the crochet & stitching. Two crafts I want to learn. I signed up for crochet clasees at Joanns Fabric. I learned the basics, but I need a friend to sit & learn from. Really cute stuff! Lisa

Your pillows are beautiful! Thought I'd stop by seeing as I haven't visited your blog in a bit. Congrats on your son winning--and Good Luck in the tournament. Dubai is a world away from us--that's for sure!! Hope you're feeling better as well, my friend.

LOVE what you've been creating, Tammy. I made crocheted baby blankets w/ cross-stitching when my kids were little. That's been awhile - my son just turned 33 today. 33? Not possible. I'm still remembering soccer practices like they were yesterday. :)
Have a great weekend!!!

How's the head? Humidity is a killer, huh?
But it seems your day of 'vegging' was a good thing. I ADORE those little pillows with cross-stitching on them. Easy peasy to make and just a sweet gift-y item! And the bears head is cocked to the side as if he's asking a question: where is the honey?
Your son is adorable! I envy his playing Badminton! That was my FAV thing to do as a kid and now my hubby and I are contemplating getting a set and going to the park this summer.
Have a 'veggy' kinda day and I'm sending a big hug to you!

Your pillows are absolutely darling! And your little bear head has the makings of something adorable. Or, you could just quit right now, stuff it, and mount it over the cat's food bowl. ;-)

Anne

That's a great idea to do with a crochet project that you give up on. And that way you don't feel you HAVE to finish the darn thing. Diane

Hi, Tammy,
Congratulations to Zack and his team on their win!! I remember those days well, with two sons, I went to many a ball game!! Your pillows are so cute! I had never seen the cross stitch with the crochet, and I like it very much. My sister crochets and seems to find it very relaxing. I hope you are having a terrific weekend! Blessings! Vicki

Hi Tammy,
What wonderful little decorative pillows - you are getting a jump on Valentine's Day already! I had no idea baseball was played in your part of the world.

That's so funny you saw the same tea warmer's at the Japanese store. I had no idea what they for until she told me. So cute though...
Happy Sunday,
Sharon :-)

Im surprised you were able to do some crafting after such a long day. The little pillows came out really cute. Nothing like veging and doing something you enjoy. I got to do reports, and that was not enjoyable...lol.

Sounds like a busy day. I can't believe baseball season is over already. Seems like it just started. Glad they were able to win the last one!!
Sounds like you are living my life - spending the better part of each day getting your boys where they need to go. Good luck getting through it. I have spent 9 or more hours at the golf center for both days this weekend. I am so tired right now... It turned out well this weekend, so we will do it again next week.
Your crocheted pillows are wonderful, and love the look of the bear. You are so much more creative than me. I love putting things together, but I need that pattern. No imagination whatsoever.
Glad you were able to enjoy your day. I'll chat with you soon!!

Love ya,
Renee

Tammy, I love how you stay so busy and do all this great and fun needlework, I don't know how you find the time, but each time I come over you've finished something wonderful! I've tried knitting and crochet a long time ago, but I just end up with knots, so I admire anyone that can produce a finished item!! Hope you're feeling better, a day off helps so so much!
hugs and love,
Debra

Tammy, your little pillows are so pretty! I definitely think you should make some more. I have never tried the cross stitch on crochet before, but really like the results. I go through crafting phases too and right now, all I want to do is crochet:) Have a great week! Twyla
