For the 4th of the July the boys and I took a day trip to Pueblo, Colorado which is about a 3 hour roundtrip from Alamosa.
Teenage boys are not always keen to walk around old downtown areas just to see what's there, but it is one of my favorite things to do.
Especially when you find an art gallery filled with ceramics, paintings, jewelry and yarn creations.
I especially love the building art we saw everywhere throughout Colorado.
And even had a chance to make some art of my own.
There was a guy doing chalk art on the sidewalk who asked us to draw something so I did.
"Marhaba" is an Arabic word that means "hello" or "welcome".
I figured since it was the 4th of July that there would be more going on. There actually was a street fair with food, games, live music and fireworks planned for later in the evening, but there was an entrance fee. Since I was not keen on driving mountain highways at night, which is when the fireworks would take place, we decided to just head back. Besides, we needed to get ready for the next leg of our journey.
More to come from Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Have a terrific Tuesday!

What a great little shop! Were you enticed by anything?
Good morning Tammy, I love having my coffee early here on our deck in BC and see what you have been up to across the world..although Colorado is much closer! Looks like a great day was enjoyed..loved your street art!

Looks like a fun little town to visit and explore. :-)
What a great-looking town. I spy some crochet in one of those photos!
We were in Colorado at the same time, Tammy - sounds like you had as much fun as I did. :)
I have not actually stopped in Pueblo in years, instead, just passing it by on the highway. Looks like it's high time to get off the beaten path and take a look around. LOVE the artwork you found there (and YARN!) Happy Tuesday, Tammy - XOXO
Looks like a fun day! Sarah and I enjoy all of those sorts of things. :)
Great downtown - I love exploring in places like that. The murals are fabulous, art galleries always fun to browse in, and who would have expected a vintage British phone box!
Looks like you definitely left your mark there Tammy - doubt they have many visitors from Kuwait, especially artistic ones!
Thanks for the e-mail - more later.
Have a wonderful day - Mary
What a colourful place to visit!

How fun to explore and see a new city. Your sidewalk art is wonderful and what a great choice you drew. Travel Bliss...
Happy Tuesday-Pueblo looks like a fun little town. I would not want to be driving mountain roads at night either.
Loved the building art too-thanks for sharing photos
That looks like a fun day! I've never been to Pueblo but it looks like a really fun time. So happy for you and the great time you had here.
Blessings,
Betsy
The Gathering sounds like a perfect name for a yarn store. love your sidewalk drawing.

I noticed that public building art and free standing sculptures have increased in cities that I visit, especially in the medium to large ones in the Pacific Northwest. It is wonderful to see all the art work -- it warms your focus and gives feeling for the place. -- barbara
Hi Tammy..
Haven't been to Pueblo but it looked nice. Glad you got to spend some time there.
I imagine you are savoring your last moments of sweet freedom.
All's well here although we are all sad over Robin Williams' suicide. Seem so difficult to believe.
Anyway, hope you are having a good day. Susan
Hi Tammy,
Looks like you are having a wonderful holiday and I enjoyed seeing all your lovely photos.
Happy week
hugs

How fun! I'm glad for you that you got to celebrate to 4th stateside! It sounds like a good trip - and teenagers are hard to figure whether boys or girls :)
Dearest Tammy,
That looks like a very diverse city with lots of different things like you spotted the window with Arabian nights. Funny, after just coming from that area to stumble upon it in Pueblo.
Your drawing is very nice and I laughed at the Marhaba as I had a mail from a Turkish friend who started the mail with Merhaba...
You have lots of fond memories and I hope the teenage boys enjoyed the intake of culture and scenery as well.
Hugs,
Mariette
Fun photos of your visit to Pueblo ... looking forward to Sante Fe with you too!
