Sand Day

All schools were officially closed today because of the dust storm that blew in yesterday afternoon. It got progressively worse overnight. Where I would normally see the sun rise, there is nothing but dust.

Although my kids begged to stay home, I wouldn't allow it and we all got to school on time only then to find out about the closure.

Buildings were barely visible along the drive this morning.
As you can imagine, breathing does not come easy in this type of weather. For those with asthma, it is painful.

I have much work to do at school so I actually stayed until 11:00 am. Yusef went home with a friend whose mother came for them, but Zack was with me and none too happy. It is now noontime and we are home. If the weather does not clear, school will be closed again tomorrow. Only time will tell.

I hope all is bright and beautiful wherever you are! Best wishes and blessings, Tammy

That looks awful Tammy! I always tell this kids 'it's time to hunker down' when we get a big snow storm, looks like the same is true for you today. Maybe a bit of crocheting will help you ignore the dust outside. Take Care! xoxo

Again, I just can't imagine and there's no way I could live with that. Hope it clears up very, very soon!!! I've never really seen anything like that - guess I shouldn't complain about our frequent clouds or wind. :)

Wow! so much dust!! and no clear skies nor sun! :o( Come over any time Tammy! besides the beach, there is plenty you would like here in Guatemala. Question: is it the dust alone, or is it get windy as well? I'm thinking there is a little wind involved since the storm moves. Or I could be mistaken. This is the kind of things I have only seen/heard of in movies, so I am really curious.
have a nice - hopefully less dusty - day!

I would rather have our blizzards and cold than that sand. Hope all goes well for you Tammy.

I am shocked by the dust storm...it reminds me of the Dust Bowl here in America in the 1930s (not that I saw them, but I saw films).

I hope you're all well, but oh, the drive through the wall of sand must have been horrible.

All joys and safety to you,

Wow, that is truly nasty stuff! And you DO wonder, with global warming, if this is just the tip of the iceberg! Does it seep through the buildings? And poor Jingles can't go outside either! Are people there wearing masks? I know I'd have an awful headache.

Come to my house and the clear blue skies....here, I'm blowing them YOUR way! CATCH!

Hugs,
Jan

Tammy! My long lost friend!
I have missed you!

It really seems like such a weird thing to go through a dust storm...I have never had first hand experience of such a thing...but from the looks of it, I am glad of it! Breathe easy, my friend.

I've NEVER seen the likes of that! Is that a common occurrence? I'm glad you are all home and safe....stay indoors...that cannot be good for your lungs.

Oh dear, I just can't imagine being out in a storm like that, it's a good thing they call off school. Does the dirt creep into the house? I hope not.

Blessings and a hope that soon your days will be bright and clear.

Oh my, Tammy. I can't imagine driving in that much less breathing it. We have dust storms, but not enough to close schools. Guess it's like a fog day here. Hope it goes away soon.

Hi Tammy...stay safe! I'll have to tell my son that while we have snow days some kids have sand days!

Yeah, you should've listened to me about keeping the kids home...lol! Was glad that it cleared up today. I am not looking forward to summer and hope I am out of the country for most of those hot humid months. I know what you're gonna be stuck doing this weekend. Happy cleaning!! Hi Tammy,
I never have seen this in real life, but it seems unpleasant and dangerous to drive around in (did you made these pics while driving?) I never do that...ahum...
I hope that it will clear up soon (although an extra free day is lovely right?)
Shame the post is so unreliable, but I will still enter your name and if you are the one, perhaps I can send it to someone in the US for you? All the best,
Maureen x

YIKES!! Not a good day for pictures in Kuwait. I am glad you got a chance to spend the afternoon at home, even though I know you have a lot to do at the office. We are finally getting a bit of rain here. Hopefully, dust in not in the near future!

Stay out of the dust, my friend!!!!!

Love you,
Renee

I can't even imagine what it must be like during a sand storm! Being nestled in my home does seems like what I would be doing :)

Oh Tammy, how awful for you all.
Staying home would be the best thing as it must be so dangerous out driving.

Hope it goes away soon and have a great weekend
