Saturday Salutations

I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving. My family was thankful for the turkey that I ordered from our local supermarket deli. Turkey with all the fixens. I'm vegetarian, they are not! :) Zack is my major meat eater.

My contribution to the meal was pumpkin pie I made the nite before. It just isn't Thanksgiving around here if there's no pumpkin pie.

Growing up, every Thanksgiving that I can remember was spent with Mammaw, my dad's mom. Family gathered, a wonderful meal, and always, football games in the background.

I have never been much of a sports fan. I never really watched the games. I was usually taking a nap in Mammaw's guest room. But the sound of the game, the voice of the announcer, until this day always takes me back to Thanksgiving past.

Mammaw died in March of 1988 and things were never the same again.

Holidays are always a time of reflection. Wishing you and yours a memorable season to come. Friendship blessings, Tammy

That's quite the turkey leg! My husband loves them, too.
As of today, I'm 'done' with the turkey dinner thing. I can only do it for 2 days and then my stomach rebels! But my husband is going to eat it all!
Football. We're not fans, either. But somehow during the holidays, it is nice to 'hear' the game and bring back memories. Your Mammaw was a special soul.
Now, the Macy's Day parade is something that triggers memories for me, and we STILL watch it on Thanksgiving. Floats, bands, and the holiday spirit. And ALWAYS the BEST Santa at the end of the parade. Makes me warm and fuzzy all day!
Pumpkin pie....I could eat a whole one myself! shhhhh, don't tell.............

Hugs,
Jan

Hi Tammy, I know what you mean about things not being the same. We've dwindled much in number with a sick MIL so things are so very different, however, did have a really nice Thanksgiving with my SIL. Food was delicious, company was pleasant, all in all close to what the days used to be. I am thankful. That leg Zack has is huge and I'll be very good. Have a wonderful day full of blessings. Off to finish (I hope) with Christmas decorations or at least close to it.

I love the picture of Zack. I thought you could not find pumpkin there? I am glad you did as I agree that Thanksgiving isnt the same without the pumpkin pie, and cherry pie and fudge brownies, that was our dessert, Jamie and Jonni took two of the desserts home with them. Thanks goodness,
love,
Gwen

The boys must of been happy with their meal. Can't quite substitute a turkey with tofu...lol! Isn't funny how the things we never really cared for back in the day can bring us simple joy and comfort later on in life. Who would've knew. I miss watching the Macy's Thanksgiving parade and like you, football, even though I wasn't a big fan of it.
Just wish they would get some canned pumpkin. Xmas is around the corner.

I'm glad your meateaters got turkey for Thanksgiving and that you had a nice one. We just finished celebrating for THREE days. My husband took me out on Thursday, Friday his daughter and family came and I did turkey with all the trimmings, then my daughter from Montana and her family were here today for a Thanksgiving gettogether. This hasn't happened this way before - I doubt it will happen again this way. Diane

It sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Your children will cherish these memories, just like you cherish the ones from your childhood. My husband is a vegetarian too. He's the only one in our family. He eats everything else though, especially the pumpkin pie :-)
Blessings,
Marcia

Sounds like you had a very nice Thanksgiving, Tammy. We drove to Denver & spent it with family, so I couldn't have been happier. :)
Wishing you a lovely day,

Personally, I hate Turkey and I lean towards vegetarianism too...but the hubby is a meat loving fiend, so I MEAT him half way on occasion!

homemade pumpkin pie with fresh whipped cream is the best thing, isn't it! yours looks like I want to bite through the screen for a nibble!

Zack looks great with a huge turkey leg in his hand. He looks really happy to have it! HA! The pie looks wonderful. I made mine with that sweet potato filling, and it turned out nicely. I had more than my share of the pie... Yesterday, I found pumpkin at Mega Mart, the week AFTER Thanksgiving!! Are you kidding me??? I got some anyways and will be sure to make a nice pie at some point.
Thanksgiving is for football, and my boys say the Dallas game three different times. Thanksgiving would not be Thanksgiving without football...
Glad you had a nice day!

Love,
Renee
