Government and private Arabic schools have been on holiday since the beginning of January. So with yesterday being an unexpected day off, today was the day that 256,000 school children would be returning to the classroom. And after days of gorgeous blues skies and wonderful weather, this is what we were greeted with.
Fog!
Thankfully, not everyone was on the road at 7:00 a.m. so the drive to school wasn't so bad.
By the time we arrived, the sun was trying its best to break through.
Of course, in this type of weather, there are always more accidents than usual and this country has already broken the record for highest traffic violations and accidents in the Arab World, and has one of the highest fatality rates in the entire world. Very sad statistics for such a small country.
Although the fog continued to clear throughout the day, there was a bit of haze returning as the sun began to set, so I have a feeling we are in for more of it tomorrow morning
Hope your week is off to a good start.
Best wishes,

I really don't like driving in the fog. It a lot like a white out with snow. Hopefully it will lift soon. We are dealing with snow in the states.
I don't like driving in the fog either, but thankfully here we don't have quite as many accidents I think, since it can be quite foggy in the rural areas here often throughout the year. Today, there is apparently snow showers nearby but thankfully I haven't seen any of that yet at work.
That doesn't look like fun to drive in for sure. Hopefully the fog won't be as thick tomorrow. Our week is off to a good start so far, we got a covering of snow! It makes everything seem so much brighter. Take care, Heather
I hate fog.Fortunately where I live now,in North Wales,we rarely get fog but it is mighty cold at the moment!
That's a sad statistic Tammy. You be careful driving in that thick fog. I can only imagine the traffic you encounter there. South of our little town the fog comes in every morning thick and heavy when you drive into the lower elevation. I always love going back home from driving to our nearest big town because the skies are so much clearer up here.
Have a great time back at school!
hugs...
Hope it clears up soon Tammy!
Gosh Tammy! I just posted on my blog that we had fog yesterday too. We've had it quite a lot recently but last night was the worst yet this year. The sun has just broken through but I think it will return tonight. I hpe you stay safe while driving. That is a terrible record to have.
Blessings,
Betsy
You are so brave driving in the fog. It terrifies me. I hope your tomorrow was a better day.
Fog is the most dangerous type of driving weather.
I hope you got home safe and sound and had a good day despite it all.
Beautiful pictures though regardless.
I'm glad you made it safely to work. Fog is always eerie and too often dangerous.
That sunset photo is beautiful.
Have a safe week, Tammy! :)
I hope you don't have any more fog. Oregon is not dealing with snow.. it's like Spring here with 65 degrees and Snowdrops in bloom! I got another hat for Brazil done today! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
That is serious fog. We don't get much here but when we do it can be dangerous. I hope the fog disappears soon, will the sun burn it off?
Dearest Tammy,
Hope you will stay safe while being on the road.
Our driver in Indonesia had worked in Kuwait with his wife and he was going back (they had to leave during the 1990 Gulf war...) and one wonders if different nationalities add to those casualties. Sad statistics!
Sending you hugs,
Mariette
Fog is very scary and driving is such a challenge. Safe travels every day for you dear.
Oh Tammy.... I don't envy anyone who has to deal with fog. For 27 years we lived in the valley of Central CA. and we had what was called Tully Fog in the winter...low fog that was horrible to drive in.
We had our foggy day a week ago... I enjoy the gray misty look of it... but NOT to drive in. Be safe if it is back today. blessings and hugs ~ tanna
That is some wicked fog! I know you get terrible sand/dust storms, too. Hope the sun comes back out soon!
Crazy fog! That's unusual for you isn't it? I remember once in Vegas around Christmas we got some foggy days, but it had been raining a lot which was weird for Vegas in itself. :-)
I hope the weather is better now and that the school runs will all be done safely! And all other journeys too of course. xx
