If you read or listen to the news, you know that King Abdullah bin AbdulAziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia passed away on Friday at the age of 90. Three days of national mourning were declared in all GCC countries from Friday to Sunday which meant no school for us today.
I have taken full advantage of the gorgeous weather we have been having over this long weekend by getting out and about on foot.
Yesterday, instead of driving to meet up with friends for brunch, I decided to walk. It only took about 25 minutes and I didn't have to bother with finding a place to park which is always an issue at this particular restaurant complex.

Your photos are so beautiful. We finally are having a blue sky day here. I can't believe it will be 60 degrees today. Very unusual weather we are having. No snow in sight. You asked how I knew something was wrong. It was a tiny spot on my leg that was kind of scratchy looking and never healed up or went away. The first Dr. said oh it is nothing.10 months later I told him I wanted a specialist to look at it.It was cancer. It was so tiny but under the skin much larger. I have the 4 inch scar to prove it. You really have to be in control of your medical these days. You just know when something is not right.
It was sad news about the death of the King. i hope the transition of leadership in Saudi Arabia will be smooth.
And it's lovely that you had an 'extra' day and good weather as well! Your friends have equally good taste in footwear - meaning of course that I like their shoes ;)
and every time i see your cheerful purple walking shoes i want to ask the brand. Buying shoes is not something I find easy to do.
Lovely pictures Tammy! I would love to be able to walk more, but the pollution is incredible this winter so it is rather a risk than pleasure.
Good for you to walk to your lunch with friends! We live out in the countryside so that's not an option for me.. but if I lived in the city I would try to do that. We're having some unseasonable warm weather here and sunshine! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
It was a joy to catch up on all your posts since Jan.8th Tammy! You have taken some beautiful walks, and I am glad to know you have been enjoying good visits with family and friends as well. You have also posted some great quotes! We are having Springlike weather that has coaxed our Camellia bush into early bloom, but Mt. Hood still majestic in its snowy white coat :) Your crocheted camera case offers pretty protection for your friend's camera. Blessings to you and yoursxx
Sounds like an enjoyable brunch with friends. I like the picture with the tiles and the earthy colors, some of my favorites. Do I see windmills in one of the photos? Have a great day Tammy, Heather
Wow what a beautiful blue sky!
love your photos. xxx
Wonderful photos as always, Tammy. :) Glad you enjoyed your time. Here, yesterday was pretty nice, sunny and 40 and we were out and about for our usual Saturday lunch with our daughter and her boyfriend and a bit of shopping. Today, Sunday, however is grey, wet and damp. Not exceptionally cold for January (35 degrees) but just miserable out, so it's a lazy day here. I work tomorrow, but then I'm off Tuesday with the biopsy procedure and may be off more than that depending on how it goes. I just want it over with.
Have a good week,
Linda
Lovely day of blue sky and friends and walking. Such a cute photo of the shoes. Sad to get a day off from those circumstances.
How nice to have an extra day :)
I so enjoy taking walks with you Tammy. I also heard about the passing of the King. I hope everything goes smoothly as his brother takes over the throne. Nice that you had an extra day. It looks like beautiful weather for you. We had warmth and even a bit of blue sky today. I think it was almost 45 degrees! Warm for January.
Blessings,
Betsy
I've been catching up on your previous posts and enjoying all your walks, and family visits and photography. Such beautiful skies! Enjoy your week :)

Glad you got a free day, Tammy. Lunch looked good and you got out walking. Life is good. Susan
I really envy you and the other bloggers who live close enough to places to walk. Or the ones who live in small towns and walk everywhere. I think the US has forgotten the simple pleasure of walking to a destination. I know I can walk here in the neighborhood but since it is only 1-1/2 streets, there not much to it. And I get bored walking on a track. I love seeing where you live.
Hugs,
Sharon
Dearest Tammy,
Yes, that was a sad tiding... It made me even sadder as my Mom is only half a year older than King Abdullah and she got diagnosed with pneumonia too while at the academic hospital. Soon she will join him!
Glad you managed to walk to the restaurant and back again. Lovely day!
Hugs and blessings,
Mariette
Love your pictures of the sky. And I do like to walk whenever I can.
Like you I appreciate those painted buildings which display art.
Enjoy.
You posted some wonderful photos, I so enjoy looking at your world thru your lens! xo

I love your adventuresome walking spirit, Tammy! And, your friend's beautiful boots... though you would find me in shoes like yours... or clogs. ;) beautiful photos! blessings ~ tanna

It sounds like a wonderful way to spend your bonus day.
Hugs to you and have a good week,

Lovely pictures as always, Tammy. My favorite is the shoe one :-)
How nice to get some unexpected days off. And, how wonderful that the day was so beautiful! Looks like you took full advantage of it and had a lot of fun. Great pics!
you always post such beautiful pictures. I think you find beauty wherever you walk because that is how you see the world around you.
I just love your pics. I feel like I am on a mini vacation when I visit your blog. Such a beautiful place you live in. :) Kit
HinTammy, I've just had an enjoyable "walk" through your blog. Talking about walking what different choices in footwear in feet photo! I loved your dolce photos. We have some in the trees in our garden.
Happy March to you ,
Kathleen.
