The Dog Days of Summer

Although I have not so far managed my new year goals of walking and blogging every day in 2025, I am now recommitting to those intentions for what's left of this year -- no matter the current weather or the fact that the world is literally on fire.

As I'm typing this, it is 107 F with a high expected of 112 F.  August often brings high humidity which I do not look forward to at all.  We've already experienced such days in July and it makes for very unpleasant conditions.
My husband had planned to visit a friend in the hospital this morning but sadly he will instead be attending his funeral this evening.  A longtime, heavy smoker, his body was riddled with cancer and his health deteriorated quickly.

May kindness, compassion, grace and mercy guide our days.
And when that isn't enough, may we rise up and resist with love and commitment.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend.
I can't believe you intend to walk in this horrible heat. It has sapped the energy right out of me.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your husband's friend, Tammy. So sad. It is getting hot here too. Like there the humidity is something fierce. Blessings.

Wow, that is hot! It’s been hotter than normal her in Spokane since we arrived. The heat does seem to be everywhere. I’m very sorry to hear about your husband’s friend. The same thing happened with my father in law. A heavy smoker too, cancer was everywhere.it so sad and preventable.
Take care Tammy.
Blessings,
Betsy

That is really hot. We had very high temperatures in San Jouquin Valley where we lived for 27 years. Glad to have some sea breezes in So CA. Very sorry to hear of the loss of the friend. So sad when someone has the gift of life and doesn't take care of it. Sending love and prayers.
