60th on the 25th

From 1899 until 1961, Kuwait was a British protectorate.  It became independent in June of 1961; however, the date of February 25th was chosen to mark the day since it was that date in 1950 that Sheikh Abdullah Al Sabah came into power.  (Plus the fact that temperatures in June are pretty hot so not ideal for outdoor celebrations .)

Normally we travel this time of year to escape the hoopla, but due to covid restrictions, there are no street celebrations allowed so it will be very quiet, which is just fine with me.
My mood yesterday and Tuesday matched the weather we were experiencing ... very gray, very dreary.
But thankfully my mood has brightened, my energy has returned with today's blue skies.
While my husband enjoyed riding his "new' used bike, I enjoyed a peaceful neighborhood walk.
And found a little something on the ground.
A reminder to:

Smile, breathe and go slowly.

The decorations are very cheerful for the holiday. Your blue skies look lovely. We're getting even more snow right now...I looked like a snowman after taking Chloe for her walk this morning. It was a whole 41F yesteday so I wore my flip-flops outside to celebrate. Today I'm back in snow boots.
I hope it stays quiet for you and that you enjoy the celebration too. Love your little roadside find. A good reminder to smile!
Blessings,
Betsy

Dearest Tammy,
That is after all still a memorable day for Kuwait! Congrats, even if it was calm in the streets.
Glad you too had some bright days, like we had here the past couple of days.
Makes walking perfect and enjoying nature waking up from winter.
Sending you a mega hug on your very special day!!!

It is too sunny here! I need a grey day to lift my spirits. A little rain would be most welcome. Sorry you can't travel but I am happy things won't be as crazy as usual. Stay safe Tammy.

Hi Tammy! I'm glad your mood brightened. I've been in the dumps too due to my son having a heart attack. He was actually lifeless until Kristi brought him back with CPR. It's been a stressful few weeks. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Tammy - I hear you - weather has such a profound impact on our moods. I can tell I have more energy with the days getting longer ... Keep your chin up, my friend!

It is sad that we can no longer celebrate in style (even if it is a bit loud from time to time). I'm glad to find you well and enjoying the sun. A hug.

Thank you for sharing about Kuwait with us. I am sorry your celebrations stopped because of Covid. I am happy to see that the outdoors is always so nice and you can take long walks. Still waiting for the cold to go away in Michigan.
