An Overnighter

A rainy departure early yesterday morning.
Over land, through clouds (which made for quite a bumpy ride) and then our arrival in Dubai where my husband had several business meetings.
That meant there wasn't time to do much.

It was recommended that we have lunch at Dim Tai Fung located in Dubai Mall so we headed there after his first business meeting.  Since I didn't have breakfast before we left, I thoroughly enjoyed every single bite of my mushroom & veg dumplings and vegetable chow mein.
We also popped in to our favorite bookstore, Kinokuniya.
Started reading this book last night.

Weather was nice so we made several rounds of the hotel grounds.
It's not a large area but there's still lots of pretty and interesting things to see.
Quite a surprise to see this big guy hanging out by the pool.
And it's the only place I've seen pink dragonflies.
Isn't it lovely?
Now we are back home.

My son in Denver is currently experiencing very snowy conditions, so if you are in the midst of a winter storm, warm wishes are being sent your way.
Happy Tuesday!

Dearest Tammy,
We both know too well about such hectic and short business trips with very little off time for yourself.
You made the best of it and that lunch sounds perfect and to my liking.
That pink dragonfly is so regal looking and what was the Great blue heron thinking?!
Lovely flowers too.
Sending you hugs,
Mariette

I noticed that pink dragonfly in the first photo of it and I was going to ask if it was really pink or red. I've never seen one that color. The natural world never ceases to amaze me. Let me know if you enjoy that book...it looks good. I've just started back walking again. It is very hard for me without the girls...we always walked together for the past 14 years...it's still hard because of all the memories but I know they would want me too and sometimes I think they are with me still on those walks. I love the snow as long as I don't have to go anywhere! My daughter was going to come down for TG but her husband is in the hospital and now I'm glad she isn't because of all the bad weather. We're going to get lots of rain and high winds and possible tornadoes...at this time of year? Mother Nature is not very happy with us! Dubai is beautiful and I bet the food is really scrumptious! What does Sam do? That is really nice that you get to travel with him on those trips. Happy Thanksgiving! Hugs~ Sam

My that was a fast trip! I loved all of your photos, but especially the pink dragonfly. I've never seen one of those before. It's beautiful.
We have had some snow flurries but noting significant. It is only 22F right now at 2:00 p.m. so pretty chilly.
Have a great Thanksgiving Tammy! Do you celebrate at all?
Blessings,
Betsy

What lovely photos! I just heard from another friend in Denver and they got dumped on. We have cold and wind coming but not snow. Kit

What fun to go there even for a while - such pretty flowers. That heron near the pool is probably there for nefarious reasons - to eat those little turtles and any koi in the water!

Tammy - stunning photos of the hotel grounds. Are those little turtles in one of the pictures? Glad you had the opportunity for a get-away with your hubby. We are visiting family in Ohio, so we are missing any snow that might be landing in Montana. We fly back through Denver, so hopefully all the cancellations will be sorted out by next Monday! Enjoy the rest of your week!

How beautiful each photo and you sharing with each of us! Your lunch looked amazing!
I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving! Just for the record on walking, one of the bone specialists I saw this summer said it is the best form of exercise for bone health.
