Welcome 2019!

After hubby did his end-of--year paperwork, we went for a nice long walk.

And then went downtown for lunch.
He doesn't usually go for Italian food so I was surprised that he chose to go to BiCE.
He read that it's the third best Italian restaurant in Kuwait so thought we'd give it a try since we are looking for new places to go.
Apparently there's piano music at night.
I decided to look up the restaurant and found a history of how it started in the 1920's which you can read about here.
Since I eat plant based, it's not always easy (especially in an Italian restaurant) to find items on the menu that aren't covered in cream or cheese.
Breads and dips were complementary; I had a very simple meal of minestrone soup, beet & spinach salad, and rosemary roasted potatoes (even brought half the spinach salad and potatoes home because it was too much for me to eat in one sitting.)
The complex the restaurant is in is celebrating winter with different painted and real scenes scattered about.
Hope you are having a lovely day so far.
Happy New Year!

What a lovely place to eat. Your food choices look delicious I would have enjoyed that. Those mini bottles are intriguing and too cute.
Loved those pavers on your walk too-Kathy

Your lunch looks delicious Tammy. I smiled at the winter scene painting. :-). Somehow, I don’t think Kuwait has ever experienced a winter like we have with LOTS of snow on the ground. Happy New Year my friend.
Blessings,
Betsy

Happy New Year! I would love to go to an Italian restaurant....a good one which that one looked to be excellent. there's none around here within 100 miles so I cook! LOL! I wish you and your family the best of the new year. Don't Sam and I share a name and a birthday? I can't remember....he's much younger than me though! LOL!

Dearest Tammy,
What a lovely post!
You both did exactly what Pieter and I loved to do after a heavy day of brainstorming, solving somebody's 'growing' problems and/or writing training manuals. Just to get some fresh air for your stressed brain, a walk in the evening even was so refreshing and relaxing.
Very interesting story about BiCe and amazing that it is that old already and still family run for the 3rd generation.
Not easy for selecting food like you and I have to.
Yesterday I made us a Porcini + Mushroom Risotto with a crisp salad and that was it. Dried Porcini that I have to soak before cutting them up and I also use a Porcini bouillon tablet. The grated pecorino and parmesan cheese is low sodium so I can have that.
You might go back on Friday again... on you special day off!
Enjoy whatever you plan in doing. Such a strange week in fact, a few days of work and weekend again.
Have to tutor on Thursday and that kind of thwarted my plans but it's okay.
Life goes on and things will get worked out somehow.
Sending you hugs,
Mariette

I agree, it's sometimes hard to find vegan/PB friendly foods on the menu in some restaurants although I am seeing more places putting in an effort to include us. Your food choices looked delicious! I adore roast potatoes!

The history behind BICE made an interesting read. Thanks for the link.

Wishing you, your husband, and sons a Happy and Blessed 2019!

What a beautiful restaurant! I was wondering what you were going to eat in an Italian place! ;-) Glad there were some items you could eat, and it all looks delicious. We had Thai food for New Year's Eve.
