Using the Good Camera

I was very disappointed recently when the house across the street was torn down and all the trees surrounding it were removed.  Huge palm trees and another big tree that have been there since we moved here 13 years ago.  There's a lot of building going on right now, and unfortunately, people seem to think bigger is better.  They don't care to leave room for green spaces which to me is very, very sad.
I am so grateful that I have two balconies that allow me to surround myself with greenery.
Jingles is very happy, too, as she gets to explore and enjoy the great outdoors.
Thankfully, we still have some trees in our block.  Early morning and just before dusk are my favorite times of day for one of my favorite activities ...

The birds are at their liveliest then as it is the best time for them to find food.  They are fascinating to watch.

It's also about the only time I actually use my good camera.

Now that the winter months are upon us, it gets dark very early.  My body has yet to adjust.  The sun sets at 5:00 p.m. and by 7:00 p.m. my brain is telling me it's time to go to bed.
I wish days and weekends lasted a whole lot longer.
Hope you are enjoying yours!

Dearest Tammy,
Like our experience with that heavenly estate where the Scottsdale Registry Resort once used to be. More bricks, asphalt and hardly any green left. Don't people realize that those trees and plants are the LUNGS for the earth? But they only calculate profit; being greedy and not at all environment conscious. SAD but true.
Your jasmines look so healthy; so happy for you. Ours reside again in the greenhouse as we had for the second time some light frost and really bad frost on Tuesday, -7°C so that would kill those tropical plants.
Enjoy your walks and stay positive! Sending you hugs,
Mariette

It look as though your plants are very happy on your balcony and the animals are happy to find them there too! xx

Greenery, kitties, birds - yup - that's all a person needs - not a bunch of buildings to look at! :)
Hope you are having a terrific weekend Tammy - they should indeed be longer!

Tamy HELLO !! I really like the pictures of the birds, I adore these aves.Aquí in Argentina is about to start the summer, the days are very hot, I think if we had more trees we would not feel so hot. Have a good weekend.

That's so sad about the trees. We lost one in a windstorm late in the summer. I can't wait to plant a new one in the spring. We would have replanted immediately but feared it wouldn't survive the winter.

I enjoyed all of your pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Betsy

I understand your disappointment Tammy! So sad to see how it seems so easy to pull out trees from their soil ….. it happens even here, where they are building new palaces, offices and villas at such a rhythm …. and no respect for the greenery around!!!! I hope that from their mistakes they will learn soon their lesson!
I love the pictures with the birds!

I was just telling my husband yesterday that I'd certainly die if forced to live without the green - the trees, flowers, pastures - not that we have any pastures in the capital, mind you, - and all this sparkled by the film Interstellar. I don't know if you've seen it so I won't say anything more. Too bad your neighborhood is getting deprived of the greens! Not a wise decision of the building experts! At least you can enjoy the little oasis on your balcony!
Jingles is adorable - I simply love the pictures you share with Jingles on IG! So cute!

Your post reminds me a lot of Jordan, with very similar issues there too.

I also love to watch the birds there, the pigeons particularly are a lot of fun as they slide down the big satellite dish our relative has on his roof!!

Beautiful photos Tammy I enjoyed looking at them, I know what you mean about the darker nights, I have just bought myself a daylight lamp and it makes the evening much brighter I have to say, as for the passing of time do you think it's going faster than it used to do I swear there must be a little man on steroids up there spinning the Earth far faster than it should be going haha have a great week. :) xx

It's so sad when green spaces and trees are built over. They add so much health to neighborhoods.
Loved going with you on your walk. Sweet birds.
Evenings are dark early here, too, and make me wonder what to do with them - they seem so long. Handwork is coming to the forefront.

Yes... we need some green... and the birds... and flowers... and our pets/family...

I love to see the birds preening one another. =)

The shorter days make me hunt the bed earlier, too. Ha! blessings ~ tanna

Hi Tammy....Oh, I wish you could live in a house in the countryside, surrounded with green grass and flowers. You would be so perfect to be a home owner in such a place.

But you have made your balcony a sweet repose place. You are amazing. Susan

I know exactly what you mean. I always worry when I hear a chainsaw. I love my "borrowed" scenery and hate the thought of greenery going away. Our sun sets at 5 too and I end up going to bed at 8:30. I hate starting any projects once it gets dark, so I read and sleep. :) Kit

It is so nice to surround yourself with greenery. We have many trees in our area so there is usually something green to see out our windows. I too wish the weekend was a little longer, I worked Saturday and one day is not quite enough time off. Great bird pictures, we did not fill our feeders this year so do not see as many birds.

Yes the evenings draw in now after changing the clocks a couple of weekends ago. It does mess with our internal clocks too. I feel ready to hunker down as soon as it's dusk now and I have no energy left to do much in the evening hours - oh wait a moment, that couldn't be my age could it? Haha!!!!

Lovely pics - hope your days are blessed and beautiful Tammy x

The first bird is a Eurasian Collared Dove. You can tell by the little collar on the back of it's neck. Your good camera sure takes some lovely pictures, Tammy. I love the little green space you've created and I'm glad to see Jingles looking beautiful as usual. Diane

Your green spaces are beautiful and Jingles is lucky to be able to explore the great outdoors. Birds are fascinating to watch. Your photos are such a joy to see. I agree with the feeling of bedtime with such early darkness. Blessings Dear...

Agreeing with you, Tammy. Taking away nature to replace it with concrete, asphalt and buildings is never a good thing. I love that you fill your outdoor space with so much greenery and looks like Jingles does too. Thanks so much for stopping by my long over neglected blog. Life has been a little crazy the last couple of years and I really did miss blogging, both the writing part and the visiting part. Birds are some of my favorite creatures to watch. Thanks for the beautiful pictures of the ones in your neighborhood.

Oh Tammy, how sad that the trees were cut down. Why can't houses be built without stripping the property of the growth of years? It happens here too and honestly I hate to see any tree go. The land looks so bare and forlorn without the green. Your balcony is like a little oasis.

I'm still adjusting to the shorter days too.

Lovely bird photos! Have a great week. :)

Great pics!

It's been sad to see so many old buildings torn down here and open space filled too. So, I've been really happy about the new trend to re-furbish old buildings, appreciate old things, and even create living spaces in downtown areas. I hope the trend grows and continues.

Sorry to hear you're losing a bit of green space there. I feel the same when I see someone chopping down a tree. They take so long to grow into such beauties! Love your bird photos, birds can be so sweet with each other ;) My birds are all busy at the feeders today, and the snow is starting (didn't know we had snow in the forecast!). I wonder if the birds are telling me something with their increased activity today. The sun sets here around the same time now, but I kind of like it since I can get all cozy inside a little earlier. Your balcony plants are wonderful, and it is easy to see how much Jingles appreciates them. Sorry that some of your treasured green space is going, it must be hard to see those trees go. But what a lot of bird life there still is in the remaining trees......great photos of those lovely birds! Happy weekend, Tammy.

Hi Tammy,

Somehow over the course of the busy last week, I missed this post until now. I enjoy your beautiful photos, love the greenery of your lovely balcony space and.....

I HATE when people tear down old homes and especially TREES!!! Here on campus, they cut down 2 very large trees outside of our office window in the last month and I don't know what the reason was, because the trees were old but still growing, full leaves in the summer, etc., and I think it's such a waste and a shame. It bothers me very much in fact when people do that.

Hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend,
Linda
