From the Book

I tried a pattern from the book that I received from Pam last week.
Openwork Squares.
It calls for size 10 crochet thread, but I used a thin organic cotton,
so instead of a 4 inch square, I got a 6 inch square.
Not sure what I'll do with it.
I'm just glad I was able to complete it (after a failed first attempt).

Today I did even more cleaning after school (it really is never ending).
And baking, too.
Pumpkin muffins.

Time for a snack.
And a bit of blog hopping before bedtime.

Best wishes and blessings,

It is a beautiful square, put it on the table with a lovely vase of flowers on it. I am going to go clean showers/bathrooms after I am done reading blogs, wow what an exciting life I have.
Have a great week,
Meredith

Dearest Tammy,

Glad you already could use the new book for some different crocheting. The smoother the cotton thread, e.g. the mercerized cotton, the easier you will work. That is a bonus but of course it comes with a price tag. Are you using metal or plastic crochet hooks? That too makes a difference and you have to figure out your own 'hand' and adjusting needle sizes accordingly. But at least you are enjoying what you do and making progress! Did you learn this at school when you were a kid? Back in The Netherlands they did teach us how to knit and crochet, starting in 1st grade elementary. The next generation they taught it also to boys as it develops great motor skills.
Not only that, I always found it the best therapy for after a hectic day at work!
Hugs to you,
Mariette

It's pretty Tammy. It would be a lovely accent doily with a picture frame or candle on it. :)

Hi Tammy, The square is pretty. you could use it as a coaster, maybe. Do share any other projects you will make from this book.
Love.

Hi T,
I love how the square looks in the thin cotton thread and how beautiful this would be in an afghan. Whenever I see something you have crocheted it makes me wish I would get the hook out again and give it another try.
Enjoy your week,

Wonderful square! Looks like a nice book to have around. When I make random square like that I like to use them as trivets to set bowls and vases on (kind of like a fancy coaster, if you will).
Pumpkin is the flavor of the season right now. Hope you enjoyed you snack.
Peace~
Dawn

Love the square and so glad you are using the book. Pumpkin muffins look delicious. I'm hoping to make something with pumpkin this week. Not sure what yet but I'm in the mood for fall food. We had stew last night with lots of veggies. Weather is to be in the 80s by mid week.

What a pretty square. It would make a lovely doily on its own, or you could make a few more for a runner or a larger mat. Have a good week!

Hi Tammy. I loved that square and can think of so many things you could do with it. I haven't read through all the other comments so I won't repeat them but I was thinking that if you were brought a nice morning drink in bed it could pretty up the tray beautifully! Joan

The crochet is getting very good! My word,,,,you're making lace it looks like. You could make several of those squares and make a table mat or table cloth or runner, or a dresser scarf. It's gorgeous!
This time of year is perfect for pumpkin muffins! Why didn't I think of that?
