Gifts from the Sea

My oldest son collected these shells for me while spending two days at the beach with a friend and his family.

The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. To dig for treasures shows not only impatience and greed, but lack of faith. Patience, patience, patience, is what the sea teaches. Patience and faith. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach -- waiting for a gift from the sea. (Anne Morrow Lindbergh)

A simple little cross-stitching entitled Serenity.

As we head into the New Year, I hope this last week of December for all of you is filled with cheer and sweet serenity. Friendship blessings, Tammy
Cheerfulness keeps up a kind of daylight in the mind, filling it with a steady and perpetual serenity. Joseph Addison

Hi Tammy...Hope your Monday is great. We are getting a HUGE blizzard as I type. Wowsers. Very different from Kuwait, that's for sure. Take care. Susan

Hi Tammy,
You are so right to wait patiently for those treasures, I find each day throws up its own.
I'm off to the beach later.
Have a great day, Angela.

How nice of Yusef to get the shells for you.. No snow here...I know that NC is getting more than your Aunt Eileen would like... In fact it is much colder there than here. Hugs Aunt Elaine

Tammy - the shells are absolutely beautiful! I love your quote from Anne~~ (love her book.) I always do that when we walk the beach - we never dig for shells among the wrack - I consider that is bad karma - we only take what is waiting openly for us. I love that you chose that quote for this beautiful post.

(so funny your comment about my sister because I have thought that about a hundred times!) OK - now I will have to tell her!

Hugs
Vicki

ps - LOVE your new blog header!

Hi Tammy Sweetie...
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to a beautiful New Year. Can you believe it is already going to be 2011? Where has the time gone?

We are going to be celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks, so we are taking a day train ride tomorrow. Going through the desert to see a little of nature. I will make sure and post about it in the next couple of days after we take it. I am really excited.

Your stitching is beautiful with the cloud and the sea gull, you have such a talent sweet friend.

Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Don't know how you found me, but am glad you did. I had to check your profile to see where you are from to have such great weather. You are really a long way away. Hubby almost went to Kuwait for a construction company many years ago and we backed out at the last minute.
I enjoyed all your holiday posts too and am looking forward to visiting again. Happy New Year to you and your family, Tammy.
