I'm joining Suzan at Old Grey Mare for the beginning of another month (Happy October!). Project Genesis gives us a chance to share eco-friendly ideas that anyone can implement in their own lives. Positive changes that will impact our environment and ultimately our world.

We all have favorite magazines that we buy over and over again.
Some are keepers, but then there are some that need to find a new home. In the States, there are so many ways to recycle magazines. I've been fortunate here to be able to donate them to the Trash to Treasure program. This program has taught ladies at the Phillipine Embassy shelter to make the most wonderful ornaments and jewelry from the pages of magazines.
Last week I picked up the Pottery Barn catalogue.
It was wonderful to browse through, but once I was done with it, rather than tossing it, I tore out several pages that will be worked into an inspiration journal.
Then, inspired by my Aunt Elaine and Creative Carmelina, I made envelopes out of the rest.
They will be great to insert a little gift of tea and chocolate.
Or a handmade tag ...
and then sent along to a friend. Scattering kindnesses each day is also another way to impact your world in a positive way.

Tammy,
Terrific! I had forgotten that I used to make envelopes like these when I was in high school and college. You've inspired me to do it again.

I love all of these ideas. The ornaments are beautiful.
You always have the greatest of ideas.....clever you!!! :)
Cool post, Tammy. It's true that it takes so little effort to spread happiness and yet it really does make the world a better place. Loved your envelopes, tags, etc. Great job! Susan
Oh Tammy sweetie...
What a beautiful post. I love the envelopes. Do you have a pattern or could you post a tutorial? I have never made one, but I would love to try.
I love the photos for journals and shares too. I have so many magazines, and I hate to just toss them in the recyclable bin, as they have so many wonderful things on many pages. I guess I will be busy cutting and trying a little less saving.
I love the Trash to Treasures program, and just look at the beautiful things that they make with the magazines. I love the flower pattern. That is SO beautiful, and even a necklace. My gosh.
Thank you so much for sharing. I hope you are having a wonderful Friday. Many hugs and much love, Sherry
Tammy-What great ideas! It's amazing what can be done with just about anything. I love the envelopes.
Thank you for visiting and wishing me a happy bday. And that is so funny that you have the same enamel pot all the way in Kuwait!

Very wonderful post. You have such creative ideas!
Tammy, I agree with everyone here! I love the envelopes and the idea of sending tea, chocolate and tags. I'm looking into donating small bundles of magazines to nursing homes and hospital waiting rooms. The regular offerings can be dismal at best!
All the best to you...
Sherry
Glad to see you are making some envelopes from your magazines. Your Aunt Eileen says she loves getting the pretty things in her mail box. I wish I could make jewerly like that.
Have a great day. Hugs Aunt Elaine

Great ways to recycle! The flower ornament and necklace look amazing! What a great idea with the envelopes. I am going to have to try that. Thanks for the inspiration.
Great idea to make an envelope. The paper ornament and necklaces are just beautiful! Have you seen the bracelets made from soda cans? They are so colorful and beautiful.
Tammy - what an amazing post - you are the QUEEN of recycling! I am absolutely in LOVE with the envelopes! Can you post a tutorial on how to make them - these are just a fabulous way to recycle. You are totally an amazing person in that you choose to and work so very hard at keeping our world "green"!

I love your ideas to make good use of your old magazines. The envelopes are such a cute idea. I saw the one that Carmelina sent you. SO CUTE!! Good for you and everyone else that gets ideas about a better way to get rid of their old things. I saw a billboard here the other day about the World Conference on the Environment that will be here in Doha is April and May. If you submit an idea about how to help the environment, they will give you a ticket to the conference. Pretty nice!!
Hope your Saturday is a good one!
XOXO
