Mending and Finishing

Last year I mended a pair of jeans (that post is here) that had ripped just at the knees when I was bending over and over again to pick up trash along my local walking path.

Over this past winter, I was trying to make friends with a very scared abandoned house cat, and after bending one too many times over and over again, the left side ripped right below the previous patched part.
I have never been a fan of the holey jeans some people wear.  The other night I saw a video of a girl wearing some that were more torn than actually held together.  I just don't get it -- especially knowing there are major fashion brands making torn jeans and selling them for big bucks when you could literally just go to the thrift store and get some on the cheap and make your own.
Anyways ... all that to say ... today is the I decided to mend them again.  And though I don't like holey jeans, I do like the look of visible mending.  For now I just did a quick fix with a patch underneath and long stitches to seam the rip together.  I am currently wearing them; might add some detailed stitching or embroidery later on.

I also finished the bag I was working on yesterday but it has SOOOOO many mistakes and did not turn out as I had envisioned.  Still, it is done and that's a win in my book.
Rosie insists on being seen and saying hi.  :)
Have a wonderful Wednesday.

I have a pair of jeans that keep splitting on the leg. My fear is that the next time I wear them in public they will split in the seat. But they are so soft and comfortable!!!! Just . . . old.

Hi Rosie ๐Ÿ‘‹ good for you I hate the ripped Jeans look too, I just don't get it. The bag looks great to me and crochet is so forgiving you can make as many mistakes as you like and no one will notice. ๐Ÿ™‚

I don't have the patience to mend jeans but I agree that it looks nice. Online you can find lots of techniques for mending. :D
Always nice to see glimpses of your cozy home. Your cats look like they're having a good time.
Have a wonderful Friday!

I do like the look of visible patches/stitching on jeans! (not a fan of jeans with holes either!)

I like your jeans a LOT but also do not like the ripped jeans look. My husband disllikes them even more than I do. It just doesn't make sense to me.
Rosie is a beautiful girl and looks very, very happy to get her photo taken. :-)
Thanks for checkin on my the other day. The internet hasn't cooperated on our travels for commmenting and today when I finally can get online, I wrote a post five different times and each time Blogger "redacted" it whatever that means and deleted it. To say I'm frustrated would be an understatement. I even deleted the app and reinstalled it and it still won't work. I'm hoping it's just another Blogger issue and not just me.
Take care Tammy.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy

You did a great job, dear Tammy! I also don't understand why people spend a lot of money on completely ruined-looking new jeans—I find that kind of decadent. But I like your jeans with their worn and obviously repaired look.
Hi to the pretty and sweet Rosie! ๐Ÿ˜ป

This post comes at right time, I have been watching videos of cutting down on things we buy and hoard. Just before moving to scotland , one of my jeans wore out and I got it mended for $0.6 . I'm trying to be conscious of not buying a lot of new stuff while setting up a house here, its so easy to buy plastic for storing stuff , hand washes etc.
I love the look of your mended jeans.
