Drawing Date

My friend, Aruna, and I try to meet once a week to have coffee or breakfast and to draw together.
Because of Ramadan and travel, we haven't seen each other in over a month, but today we were finally able to get together.
To our surprise, the restaurant we planned to go to wound up being completely boarded up which meant we had to choose another spot. Thankfully the complex we were at had many choices so we wandered over to a Kuwaiti restaurant.
It was the beautiful shades of blue and the decor that drew us in.
I had rosewater lemonade and tea and we shared foul and falafel.
By the time we finished eating, the breakfast crowd had cleared so we had a nice, quiet space for drawing.
Aruna took a picture of a lantern to sketch and I just drew what was right in front of me.
How you draw is a reflection of how you feel about the world.  You're not capturing it, you're interpreting it.
(Juliette Aristides)
We always have such an enjoyable and relaxing time.
Have a terrific Tuesday!

I don't even know where to begin to tell you how much I loved this post. You and a friend. Drawing together in a beautiful restaurant. I love both of your drawings and the teapots on the wall had me loving the restaurant before seeing any other photos. Tammy, thank you for sharing your life and creative fun with us.
Blessings,
Betsy

Dearest Tammy,
One wonders to find a restaurant all boarded up... Sad.
But you did end up at a lovely place.
Rosewater lemonade sounds exotic and delicious.
Loved both of your drawings!
Hugs,
Mariette

Ohh.. I'm glad you found such a pretty place to go when the first one was closed. I love both of your drawings and I also am inspired to take up my pencils and watercolor paints. My granddaughters will be here next week so maybe we'll do some art out on our deck by the pond. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I just love the idea of getting together with a friend to draw. Both subjects and results are lovely. The blue and yellow teapot is a great inspiration.

Tammy - glad you found a Plan B for your drawing date. You are both talented, and the quote is spot on. I am working on having that attitude when I am drawing!

Looks like a lovely time and nice drawing.
I'll probably take up my drawing again sometime in the winter - well after all of the many first months of retirement and wedding excitement are over. I don't have any friends that I hang out with - only Jim and Sarah. It's okay for me though; it's the way I've always been and I don't feel a need to change now. I made one, what I thought was a close guy friend, who spent every day with us during the months of my Mom's passing, however he dumped us all January 1st and I've sworn off every trusting anyone again. (I never trusted people but gave in during this vulnerable time and this is how it worked out so.....) Anyways, glad you're having a good summertime. Only 1 month until Sarah & Dakota's wedding and we are in full throttle now to get everything done since it's all DIY.

Beautiful places are inspiring. Very apt for a drawing expedition to be in a colourful environment.
