A Week of Woeful Weather.

Weather is certainly the topic of discussion lately.
Winter storms hitting the US; flooding in Australia and the UK.
We started off the week with two days of darkness and almost constant rain.
Then there was a couple of days of mostly clear skies before the fog settled in.

Last night we had to take our college boy to the airport for his trip back to Colorado.  As you can see, visibility was poor.  His 2 a.m. flight was delayed until after 4 a.m.
Thankfully he is now in Frankfurt waiting for the next leg of his trip.  I hope it goes smoothly and that he doesn't encounter anymore delays.
It's a very gray Friday here.  A good day for staying indoors cozy and warm.  I made zucchini soup for lunch. And my woodland friends socks, a gift last Christmas, are keeping my toes toasty.

Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire; it is the time for home. (Edith Sitwell)

Best wishes and blessings,

It seems that no matter where you are, it has been a rather foul week for weather. Your quote is quite perfect though and I felt nice to read it. I hope you have a fantastic weekend!!

Our weather in California has been like constant spring.....not good for the farmers or skiers! Happy your son got off safely.

So glad your son got to come home for the holidays. The weather here has been crazy and it made it difficult to get things done over the Christmas season but I managed and it's been cozy.
You've had some "cozy" weather too, I see. It's defrosting here now and we're getting rain and fog too and it is dark so I have little lamps lit around the house and candles to dis-spell the gloom. I love your socks! I have to catchup with you as I have been trying to finish "late" presents, work around the weather and also do some organizing. Happy New Year!

P.S. I lvoe the quote. Where do you get all your wonderful quotes? TTYL!

That's one of my favourite winter quotes. So apt on grey days anywhere. Glad your son is winging his way back to CO in spite of the fog.
Stay cozy.

YES CRAZY WEATHER HERE. Oops, sorry about the caps. Our family here in three homes have all suffered with frozen pipes and heat problems.
Where does your son go to college. Colorado is where my daughter lives and my second home.
I hope for a little sunshine for us all. It always makes me feel better even if it is below zero.

Oh Tammy, hope your boy gets to Colorado without any further delays.

It's nice weather there....close to 60 degrees, I believe.

I had to shovel to my car this morning....snowed overnight but it was nice, soft, fluffy stuff.

Take care. Susan

I hope you have taken some time for yourself today, rested and played with yarn. Letting your son get on that plane is hard, I know all about it. Rest my sweet friend,

Thanks for a nice earworm - Jimmy Cliff!! I met him when he played a small club in Denver about a hundred years ago.
Glad your son's plane made it safely, if a bit late, to Frankfurt - low visibility on the ground is a bit disconcerting when one is heading skyward, isn't it?
Enjoy your snug, indoors time (where is Mr. Jingles??) and your soup. I just made a pot of whatever's in the cupboard soup, as it's been a gloomy day here, too. :)

Dearest Tammy,
Now you are the Parent worrying over a son that has to yet reach his destination. It is never easy to travel as there are so many weather influences.
Let's hope he meanwhile arrived safely and sound and you got notified. Lucky with nowadays social media.
Hugs,
Mariette

Hi Tammy,
Hopefully your son is safely back in Colorado and the weather is better than it was both in the US, Canada and the UK.
It is beautiful here, we are sitting outside just thinking about making supper, but it is too nice to go inside yet. Hope you get some sunny skies soon!

That must have been stressful having the flight delayed in the middle of the night! I do hope he makes it to Colorado ok. I thought of him the other day when talking to some people from CO. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Hard enough to send your son back, I'm sure, but then the weather and delays only added to the gloom. The soup and socks look like they should brighten things up a bit. Hugs, Diane

Oh Dear...you are having lots of weather. We are still sunny and bone dry. My landscaping is dying. Hopefully your son is safely back in Colorado. Winter is a great time to reflect and enjoy the comforts of home. Blissful...

Warm wishes to you too Tammy and for your weekend. :)

To show how drastically our weather changes here in Central Illinois - we had over a foot of snow on Sunday/Monday from the blizzard and record low temperatures of 40 below, but now, it's in the 40s, with thunderstorms and pouring rain all day. All of the snow will likely be gone in the next two days, thanks to the rain melting it. :)

I'm always a bit confused with what the weather is over where you live, and your seasons... but now in your photos I can see! yes, the weather has been a huge topic and can I add to it here by saying that its just hit 43C here a few mins ago! we are sizzling! ( I know that compared to your temps that is probably a bit cool lol!) your soup looks lovely! Enjoy!

Weather, wild everywhere it seems. When it was below zero here earlier this week, today in the upper 50's! Soup...the perfect winter food in my opinion. I have never had zucchini soup, will have to look for a recipe sounds good.

Oh Tammy, did he make it after the initial delay? I sure hope he's safely in CO by now and ready to hit the books again! I know it's not easy having him so far away - my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Enjoy your weekend dear - love your 'woodland friends' warm socks, I'm finding warm socks are a big part of winter wardrobe around here too.

Hugs - Mary

Well I hope your son is safe back at university by now. It's terribly thick fog all over here today to (Ontario), and I had to drive to visit my dad ... couldn't see much ahead of me on the highway. Our temperatures have skyrocketed from -26C on Monday to +5C today, so all the snow is evaporating into the air. My daughter was sent back to university a day early to avoid a snowstorm last Saturday ... not a happy girl to be deposited back when she had planned to spend one more day with the boyfriend. Oh well, she's fortunate that she can come home in a few weeks again. Take care Tammy ((hugs)) Wendy x

It was weird because we first had a heatwave that broke record temps in some areas and then we had a nasty storm that caused localised flooding closer to Brisbane city. A woman in my area was even struck by lightning and luckily survived. We ended up with a leaky roof thanks to hail-stone damage. Yep, weather seems foul all round.

I love seeing all the different soups you make. They always look so delicious and appetising. I love soups too but, unfortunately, my sons aren't as keen on soup as I am.

Cute socks!
