More Baking and Gift Bags

Yesterday while I was in the kitchen, I decided to bake up another batch of shortbread.  This time, instead of jam centers, I added chopped pecans to the mix, filled the center with melted chocolate and then coated them with powdered sugar after they had cooled.  My family may not like all my food experimentation in the kitchen, but they certainly never complain where sweet treats are concerned.
Astri at Apple Blossom Dreams wrote a post the other day entitled Shortbread Cookie Monster in which she shares her different takes on shortbread (lemon poppyseed and chocolate dipped orange).  Oh my!  You can bet I'll be trying out even more combinations in the future.

All those fringed flowers I've been making with leftover yarn needed to be used for something so I crocheted some gift bags with cotton yarn and then attached the flowers to the front.   It's always nice to give a gift bag that is a gift of its own.

Wishing you a happy, creative day!

Okay once again, YUM! Love your gift bags. DO not fret over your son. The only thing that has kept my son anchored is swimming. Without it I think he would be lost and in a lot of trouble. He does not have a major, or know what he wants to do. That is okay because as I learned 60% of students change their majors. Basic classes are perfect for a Freshman. Basic classes with a tutor are great for a freshman in our case. your boy will be fine, but that doe not make your worry any less. Notice my gray hair and wrinkles, all from worry.
Hugs to you sweet friend,
Meredith

I've been in the kitchen too! Baking and cooking up some awesome veggetarian delights! I just popped a whole wheat lasagna into the oven. Made it with sauteed mushrooms, spinach, onions and garlic. Sliced zucchini and Parm cheese..and two hard boiled chopped eggs....it is smelling delicious, can't wait to eat it.

Your kids are off? My son is done his last exam tomorrow morning, and my daughter has one week left.

Your bags are lovely
and some recipient will
be very lucky, Tammy!

I tried a new recipe last
month for Lavender Shortbread
that was amazing! Only
a tiny bit of lavender but
it makes it so delicious.
I love all variations!

Happy Monday,

I have missed so much however I went back and caught up. I love your butterflies and flowers that you have been crocheting and the can covers. Your cooking sounds delicious. I agree with anything sweet and I will eat it up. Good to see you are enjoying your vacation so far. I suppose Jingles prefers the garden greens to the shortbread...

Yes, you can hardly go wrong in the sweet department! Those look and sound delicious and the chocolate orange version also. I love chocolate and orange together. I think it stems from chocolate covered orange rinds I used to have when I was a child.
I meant to tell you, your coffee cans are really looking great with the flowers on them. Just put a butterfly in between each flower and that should take care of the "empty space". Your bags are such a nice gift and now with the bloom on the front...precious!
