I Did It

Inspired by Sherry's post to just go for it.
And Alessandra's post about a craft a day.
I stopped my procrastinating ways and just went for it.
My very first crocheted matrioska doll using this pattern.
It's supposed to be a bookmark but turned out kinda big so I will definitely be tweaking the pattern.
But I'm very pleased with my first attempt.

Have a great week!

Your crocheting skills are obviously better than mine. I'm thinking you could make this shape into a doll by doing two pieces, binding them together and stuffing. Go for it!

I'm so very guilty of my procrastinating ways getting in the way of me doing more but I have been trying very hard not to and so far have been achieving much more, it feels good:) Your crocheted doll turned out beautifully I love the coloured yarns you chose.

You took the old 'leap of faith' nicely! It looks pretty hard with all the colors you had to incorporate, but WOW, it came out great! Smaller hook next time?

Absolutely adorable, Tammy. Loved it. Great job! Congratulations. Now are you going to make the next size down, then smaller and smaller and tiny? That would be cute! Susan

Wonderful! Even if she's too large for a bookmark you could do other things. Blessings, Diane

Hi Tammy,

The little doll is so cute and would be lovely as the others have said to make smaller and smaller ones. I have a nightgown with three of these little dolls on it.

Happy day

Dearest Tammy,
From the picture you cannot judge that your Matrioska is big.
Well done and now you know how to size her down.
You keep surprising everyone; that is great!
Hugs to you,
Mariette

She's so cute!!! My daughter has always loved the nesting matrioshka dolls. Interestingly enough she is now dating a young man who is Russian. (He moved here with his parents when he was a kid.)

Dearest Tammy,
Hello, thank you SO MUCH for your thoughtful comment. Although I'm still feeling a bit groggy, I finally start facing pc and catching up visiting friends (^^;)

Very pretty "crocheted matrioska doll"♡♡♡ I wish I had a talent for crochet p;)

Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

Wonderful inspiring post! I simply love Matrioska Dolls. I would try going down a hook size (or two) to tighten up the stitches a bit and see if that improves the size before I started changing the number of stitches. I think this would make a better Tea Mat for your tea pot or a plate of goodies than a book mark. Just a wonderful project!
Peace~
