Saturday Craftivities

My Saturdays of late have been filled with lots of creative activity.
Last Saturday I did a book reading at TIES Center about keeping our environment clean.  Afterwards the kids picked up garbage and learned what could be recycled or repurposed and then created art from it.
I also taught them how to make simple God's Eyes which was a huge success and lots of fun.
Yesterday morning was spent with members of our Kuwait Crafters Group giving some of the crochet pieces at the Secret Garden a facelift.  We were able to yarnbomb another bench with the granny square contributions received for the yarnbombing event held in November.
And yesterday afternoon I was back out at the garden for arts and crafts.
More God's Eyes, drawing and planting seeds in newspaper pots.
One little girl used the wooden skewers meant for God's Eyes as knitting needles and knit a little piece that she immediately tied to one of the trees and her younger sister decided if she couldn't make a God's Eye, then she could  at least draw it.
Very inventive.

In crafting there are no mistakes, just unique creations.

Have a great day!

Happy Hearts

May you find happiness in the most unexpected places, joy just around the corner, and love all along the way."
(Susan Gale)

On Tuesday I met my friend, Melissa, for an early morning walk and did a little love bombing along the way.
Cultivate caring and generosity.
Happiness is the natural state of a loving heart.
There's always shenanigans when Melissa is around.
The real joy of life is in its play. Play is anything we do for the joy and
love of doing it, apart from any profit, compulsion, or sense of duty.
It is the real joy of living.
     (Walter Rauschbusch)

After an hour and a half of walking, we met our friend Elena for breakfast by the marina.
As you can see, it was a gorgeous day!  We've had the most perfect weather this past week.  80 during the day and down into the 60's at night.  I'm hoping it will stay like this at least through March before the real heat sets in.

Happy Thursday!

Love All Around

The secret of beginning a life of deep awareness and sensitivity lies in our willingness to pay attention.
Our growth as conscious, awake human beings is marked not so much by grand gestures and visible renunciations as by extending loving attention to the minutest particulars of our lives.
Every relationship, every thought, every gesture is blessed with meaning through the wholehearted attention we bring to it.
In the complexities of our minds and lives we easily forget the power of attention, yet without attention we live only on the surface of existence.
It is just simple attention that allows us truly to listen to the song of a bird, to see deeply the glory of an autumn leaf, to touch the heart of another and be touched.
We need to be fully present in order to love a single thing wholeheartedly.
We need to be fully awake in this moment if we are to receive and respond to the learning inherent in it.

Five on Friday: Lately

Beautiful weather has meant lots of walks.
Leaving a little love behind.
My newest obsession of wrapping things with yarn.
Crocheting for charity.
 And always skywatching.
Sharing my week of simple pleasures with Amy of Love Made My Home  for Five on Friday.
Have a great weekend!

A Crafty Saturday

Coffee, conversation and crafting to start the day.
And arts and crafts this afternoon at The Secret Garden.
Even the adults got in on the action.
Especially loved this yarn wrapped stick made by one of the fathers.
From morning til evening it was a busy, creative day.
Happy Saturday!

Skywatch and Lovebombs

Only from the heart can you touch the sky.
Rumi

I'm a skywatcher.
The first thing I do every morning is head to the kitchen to make coffee and then straight to the back door to check out the morning sky.
Some days are just regular, but then sometimes, like today, you get a sky that is filled with changing colors.
From pink to golden, with scattered clouds and a beautiful sunrise.
Plus, there's the crescent moon directly in front of me.
Birds flying high.
And even an airplane flying by.
Later I went for a walk and carried more crocheted hearts with me.
This time there were two fathers out with their little girls so they got the pink hearts and then I tied the multicolored ones to a fence and a bench.
Still skywatching as I wind my way back home.

Have a terrific Tuesday!
