Celebration and Transformation

Yesterday was Sam's 54th birthday.
We had beautiful weather for an early morning walk.
A walk that lasted an hour and 20 minutes.
We met friends at Tang Chao for Chinese.
Where there were still signs of Christmas.
I snagged a couple of these rocks outside the restaurant.
Is it stealing if they are just sitting there covering a grate?
We then headed to our friends' place for coffee and Indian sweets.
The one on the left is made from a flaky pastry and lentils.  Very interesting.
And in the evening, our friend, Ali, came by for coffee.
He works here, but his wife, one of my very best friends, lives in Lebanon with their boys.  He just returned from there and she sent along this lovely cross-stitched Christmas pillow just for me.
The rocks I picked up yesterday and from my walk the other day have now been transformed with yarn.
Today's walk has already been taken and now it is time to prepare myself for reality.
Back to school tomorrow.
That will certainly be a shock to the system.

Have a great weekend.

Happy belated birthday to Sam!! Looks like it was a wonderful celebration! Your transformations are beautiful, Tammy. It cracks me up that you collect them from all the places you go... about 20 years ago I did that, too... to place in my garden. I loved knowing where they all came from... the memories they held for me. Your transformations are beautiful! blessings ~ tanna

Happy Birthday! We went back Thursday and I am so glad we went at the end of the week. Now I can handle the entire week when Monday rolls around!
Stealing? Nah, you are beautifying! You ought to go get a couple more, crochet covers for them and then put them BACK on the grate and see if anyone notices! ha!
Thanks for popping by.....see you soon!

I've always wondered about the rock dilemma, too. There are some beautiful ones on my walk and I try not to pick them up. But I always watch for wish rocks, perfectly smooth small ones, and heart shaped ones.

Happy Birthday to your husband, it sounds like he had a busy, fun day.

Sorry you have to face reality soon. At least you have a day or so longer. Blessings, Diane

Hi Tammy

Change is constant. So blow away your `Tom' worries. :) Belated Happy B'day to SAM. Why don't you put up a post of all your dressed stones in a post? I'd love to see them all.

Hope you have a joyous start at School...

ps: Yesterday I walked. Thanks for inspiring me.... Couldn't go today. But tom... I surely will :)

Good luck at school! My husband is a teacher and started back last Weds. Definitely a shock to his system!

This one is for Sam: "Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Sam, Happy Birthday to you!"
And since he knows how fast I can talk, think this one in song version and slower.
Hope he enjoyed it, on the photo's he had a lovely sunny day.
And the black rock Rocks!

Dearest Tammy,
So glad to read you enjoyed a busy but lovely day together walking and with friends. Thanks for the shout out of my Papa's 92nd Birthday. He was in high spirits. My eldest brother had driven 30 km one way to pick up his widowed sister and half-way also his ailing brother. More brothers came for a visit and they had a lot of laughter which is good. How many more times they can be together like this?
Sam looks in great shape for his age; still young though! But walking surely is good. Hope his health will remain well and you of course are the best healthy cook!
Hugs to you and enjoy what you are doing.
Mariette

*H*A*P*P*Y* * *B*I*R*T*H*D*A*Y*!*!*!* to Sam!
I love the new crocheted rocks! I'm sure it's not a problem with you picking up a rock in a drain... as a fellow rock picker-upper, I understand. :-)
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

About Archibald... yes he is very fat and that is because he eats way to many flies. I must teach him moderation. Ha LOL.

Back to school on Monday - I don't really want to think about it - although once I'm there it will be great.
I have bowls of rocks from various places - none as pretty as yours covered with crochet.

Happy Birthday to your Sam and Marietta's Papa at 92....congratulations! Looks like I'm in good company!
Look at all the beautiful decorations there for Christmas and the yummy desserts too!
Your covered rocks look so good...mine is giving me fits and starting to ruffle. I'm going to try a smaller thread tonight. You must have a special crocheting gene as I need a pattern it seems but this one isn't working for me. I may look at your pictures and just follow that...somehow. Yours look great!

Looks like a great day! Glad your husband had a good Birthday :)

And I so hear you on tomorrow and the return to school - my first day back to work as well and I am NOT looking forward to it. My job isn't busy most of the time and it just makes the time go soooo slow. :(

Hope you have a great new week,
Linda

Sounds like you had a fun day celebrating Sam's birthday. That Indian dessert looks interesting. Did you like it? I like most Indian foods, but haven't tried something like that. What do you do in the school system; are you a teacher?
