Happy New Year

We will open the book.
Its pages are blank.
We are going to put words on them ourselves.
The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.
~Edith Lovejoy Pierce
Every man should be born again on the first day of January.
Start with a fresh page.
Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary,
or let down one, according to circumstances;
but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more,
with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past.
~Henry Ward Beecher
Sam and I decided to start the new year off right by heading out for a 9:00 a.m. walk.
We may even take another one this afternoon.
No plans for the day, no rushing around.
Just a quiet, peaceful start to the year.
Happy 2013!

  1. What an opportunity a New Year gives us...like a brand new empty calendar...ready for all that is to come in 2013.

Starting off with a walk is a great way to go.

    Love the quotes and pictures.

Blessing to you and all those you hold dear.

  17. Isn't it nice to have the day off and have no plans? That's the best kind of day. My hubby actually has the day off too (he usually works 6-7 days/week, so a day off is rare)and we've been downloading music, doing some basic household chores, but now we're getting ready to start touch-up painting the bathroom. Woo-hoo. :-)

  21. Happy New Year. Love your inspirational post. I'm starting a Gratitude Journal today and after seeing your photo of the calendar, I'm of to try and find one like you have here. It will make a great Gratitude Journal since it has space to write each day.

  22. Wonderful quotes for a fresh new beginning. Your day sounds much like our day...fresh crisp cold air while walking about our little town. Relaxing at the local bistro while letting the sun shine upon us. No rushing here today...

  23. Wonderful words to live by. A walk was just the thing today. I did wait for the temp. to get to 32 degrees before I headed out with Teddy. He was most happy to have his new sweater on. From your pictures I would guess it was a tad bit warmer there!

  25. Dearest Tammy,
Great quotes you put out here and that is excellent food for the soul. What a joy for being able to walk at 9:00 AM when it is still a bit fresh but the humidity is nice low this time of the year. That makes all the difference.
Wishing you and yours a Happy and Healthy 2013!
    Hugs,
    Mariette
