Little Birdies

Did you watch the Opening Ceremonies yesterday?
I watched it live from 11 p.m. until 2:45 a.m.
Yikes!
Haven't stayed up that late in forever.
Remember that fiddly project I mentioned yesterday?
Well, after seeing posts by Angeliki and Val, I knew I finally needed to have a go at it.
It has been on my to-do list for quite some time.
Ta-dah!
Easy to crochet.
But all those parts to sew together is what took so long.
The next one should be easier since I won't have to concentrate so much on the how-to.

This sweet little bird recently stopped by for a quick hello.
Perching on the branch of my one and only tree that has survived the brutal heat.
Be like the bird who, pausing in her flight awhile on boughs too slight, feels them give way beneath her, and yet sings, knowing she hath wings.
Victor Hugo
Have a great day!

We did watch the Opening Ceremonies and enjoyed then. I think we have a six hour delay.

I have had those cute little birdies on my to-do list too. Isn't looking like I will get to them any time soon but they sure are cute :)

Lovely quote from Victor Hugo.

I, too, watched the ceremonies & England certainly did a beautiful job. We are having record breaking heat & no rain. Seems all I do is water. The poor farmers are having a terrible time. Love your bird! Have a good weekend! Jan

Such a pretty crocheted rainbow bird. You did a fabulous job! Real birdie is a cutie too. I can look at birds outside my window for hours, and never tire of it. I must have been a cat in a previous lifetime. :)

Dressed up in red, white and blue and went to dinner after setting the timer on the DVR. I'll watch minus the commercials later! Such a night owl you are! I'd have wiped out around midnight!

I did watch with Teddy my Bichon snoring away next to me. Then I tried to sleep in this morning to no avail. Teddy was ready to play very early. I loved the Queens entrance. So much fun.
I like your crochet birdie. The little outside bird, amazing they can stand the heat. Do you put water out for them. So Precious. Hope you have a cooler weekend.

And yup, the opening ceremonies were fun to watch!

I love your wee bird! I must try that pattern sometime. The opening ceremony was stunning. My son kept asking for us to rewind the Mr Bean running scene, he thought it was hilarious!

Have a fab week hon.

Hi Tammy,
I love your crocheted birdie. Crochet is something that I admire in others but have never learned to do myself.

I'm glad that your little tree has survived to welcome little visitors.

I love bird quotes. They seem to have an elegance to them.

As always your work is beautiful, I may just need to check the link and make a couple. The putting together bit is always the longest.
Enjoy your little visitor and the games.

I would be one sleepy girl if I stayed up that late! Haha! Glad you got a birdie break! :)

I love your sweet birdie (and your darling cat). I don't think I've stayed up that late for twenty years Tammy. I'm one of those go to bed at nine kind of people.

I loved the Opening Ceremony.
I've been visiting the site as it grew from a piece of waste ground near my sons house to the amazing venue it is today. Fridays show was the icing on the cake.
love all your birdies, such fun for Jingles to watch!!

Did not watch any Olympic openings. Never really watch tv to much nowadays. Your little birdies are so colorful. You should hand them outside your window to keep Jingles busy:)

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and it was not too hot!!!

That little bird has been on my to do list, too. Still is. No opening ceremonies for me or even Olympic viewing yesterday, but now I am home, have cleaned much of the house, done 5 loads of laundry, I am ready for some Olympic fun.

Oh, I love your birdie!!!!! I've been wanting to make one or 2 or 3! They're so cute...maybe after my table runner is done. Did you use cotton yarn?
I love the quote too. I think I need to copy that one.
I'm going to make your scones today. I'm baking English this week in honor of London hosting the Olympics. I baked an English Lemon cake but that's gone...so good it never lasts and great with tea. So now, English scones! I can't wait to taste as I've never made them! Enjoy the Olympics!

Yes, stayed up late too. Had a few tears - being a Brit that was expected - stood for the Royal anthem - enjoyed the Industrial Revolution - did not like the NHS part with the beds and baby - thought it rather over the top in places - but loved the spectacular ending with the lighting of the cauldron and fireworks. Wished HM had smiled - she just didn't get over the chopper flight I believe (!!!!) - and Sir Paul, bless him, tries his best but I feel uncomfortable watching old singing stars struggle!

Making more scones this coming week - whole wheat cheese/herb for a change, and then perhaps strawberry!

Made fig preserves this last week - loving my domestic side, that's what I miss most when I travel!!

Hugs - Mary

I do like one-piece projects as the sewing seems to take forever. But what a very cute crochet birdie (and real birdie too).
