A Good Kinda Busy

These brown jars have been piling up for quite some time, so today they got a good washing.
Seven of them are now all dressed up, ready to be filled with candy or chocolates and given as gifts.  There was a time when I didn't give a second thought to throwing things away.  Even jars.  Now I can't imagine tossing them.
I also tried out a new flower pattern.  And when friends called to say they wanted to stop by for coffee, I quickly whipped up a sheet pound cake to serve with sweetened yogurt and fresh strawberries.
I love weekends.
Hope yours is a relaxing one!

Look at those beautiful patterns on your jars! Very nice!

I am currently sitting with my daughter in a hospital room as she was just readmitted for toxemia with very high blood pressure. I had the very same situation with my last child and it scared me lots. She seems to be okay even with six little ones at home. Her newborn will be able to come and stay.

Happy to have internet access and to pop in to visit with you.

That's my kind of busy! I love those crochet covered jars! I definitely wouldn't throw those jars out either! And friends stopping by for a snack and a chat! Lovely!

LDH, well wishes to your daughter. I hope everything is ok now :(

I like how you repurpose things. :) I like to repurpose some stuff, but not all - we simply have no room for much here, so I do still throw things away.

The sun is shining, it's clear, and we're heading out tonight to gaze at the heavens through ancient refractors at the historic University of Illinois Observatory (on the register of historic places). Even though I work just down the street from it, I've never been to one of their Friday night open houses and I'm looking forward to it.

Have a nice weekend, I'll probably check back on Monday.

Tammy, what beautiful jars! I have never seen brown jars. I'm like you. I love to find new uses for used things. Your crocheted covers make them all the more special. I hope you have a lovely, lovely weekend.

If someone called to come for a visit, I'd have to ask them to stop off at Safeway if they wanted a cake. You're amazing!

I know what you mean about the jars ... I especially like the large wide mouth jars (like for pickles) because they're so great for food storage (once you get the pickle smell out!)

have a relaxing weekend!

Nice job on the jars, Tammy. I have no idea how to crochet but I admire your prowess. The cake with yogurt and strawberries sounded yum yum, too. And I'd like to do what Jingles is doing all weekend, but alas, have a busy one ahead. Going to a maple syrup house tomorrow. Susan

Funny how we live weekend to weekend isn't it. Great idea for your jars and I love your little red flowers. I want to be sitting in that chair with your cat, what a perfect life (or as we used to say - the life of Riley). Enjoy your weekend!
