This and That and Tea on Tuesday

Cock-a-doodle-doo!

Good morning to you!

We live in a residential area. Our next door neighbor does not have a farm, but he does have a rooster and chickens running around his yard. There are restrictions as to where you can have trees, but none when it comes to the animals you have.

It's a hot day with the temperature around 115 and clear skies.

A hot day calls for a cool lunch. Avocado, cherry tomatoes, cilantro! Yum!

A mid-afternoon snack of one of my favorite treats: green tea & mint with a couple pieces of dark chocolate.

Its 3:00 pm here and 8:00 am in OH so I need to try and call my mom.

Have a terrific Tuesday! Friendship blessings, Tammy

I love reading your blog and finding out interesting things about your neighbors and their lives there. I always enjoy seeing what you're up to! Lunch and snacks look yummy for sure. Not sure I would handle the hot temp very well. Is it dry heat or humid? Where does your Mom live in Ohio. Before we moved to Michigan 8 years ago we were in Ohio for ten. We lived in Mayfield Hts., Shaker Hts., and Lima. Blessings!

I REMEMBER AS A KID THE CHICKENS WE HAD. WE LIVED IN THE CITY, BUT MY DAD BUILT A SUMMER HOUSE TOWARDS THE SHORE, BUT IN THE COUNTRY.
WE WOULD GO THERE FOR THE WHOLE SUMMER, AND WINTER WEEKENDS. I JUST LOVED IT. WE HAD CHICKENS, DUCKS, GEESE, AND A PIG. A FEW ACRES OF ALL KINDS OF VEGGIES WE PLANTED. MY MOM CANNED ALL SUMMER LONG, SO WE WERE SET FOR THE WINTER, I HAD 4 BROTHERS, AND TWO SISTERS A LOT OF MOUTHS TO FEED. MY DAD WAS A FIREMAN SO HE WOULD TRAVEL BACK AND FORTH ALL SUMMER. WE HAD FRESH EGGS, AND GOT OUR MILK FROM THE FARMER UP THE ROAD, I KNOW THIS SOUNDS LIKE A NOVEL, BUT ALL TRUE. YOUR NEIGHBORS CHICKENS BROUGHT BACK A LOT OF HAPPY MEMORIES. WELL, ENOUGH OF ME, YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY, YOUR SALAD LOOKS YUMMY, STAY COOL.....RIZZI

i would think, with that kind of heat, that trees would be welcome anywhere for the shade?? we used to live out in the country and a neighbor had chickens....i found them annoying....but they do eat ticks (which is a good thing). that is a lovely picture of you and your mom...you are both beautiful.

Good Morning "T" Sweetie...
What a beautiful share. I love seeing the rooster and the chickens. How fun. (We live next to 1 acre farms and I can hear the rooster crow every morning when I am leaving for week at 5am. Love it.)

That photo of you and your sweet Momma is priceless. I love it. You both look SO happy sweetie. Aren't memories just the best? We can pull one from the shelf any time we need a heart hug or a warm smile. I love it.

Have a gorgeous week sweetie. 116 here yesterday and another hot day here today. Makes one not want to leave their house. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Hope you have a wonderful day.
I would love to have chickens running around my yard - I've often said that. :)
Thankfully, the sun and beautiful weather has returned here and all of my bad thoughts about the previous weather are almost long forgotten, lol.

Well, it seems the Chickens have the 'upper-wing'!!!

Your salad looks so pretty, so perhaps I'll head to the store later and get some avocado's and cherry tomatoes for dinner, too. It's going to be hot here today (87) so a cool dinner is in order.

Warm hugs,
Jan

Yummy salad! All my favorite ingredients!

What a great suggestion to use old barn wood for carved animals. I hadn't thought of that. I didn't save any wood --- but was able to rescue the window frames. They are lime green and gridded to hold panes. I'm trying to think up a good project for them.

Happy day to you!

Hi Tammy,
That's so funny! Restriction on trees but not animals? We can have chickens but NOT roosters. :) We had chickens when I was a kid and I loved it!
I love the photo of your mom and you together.
Your mid-afternoon snack looks delicious!
Oh, you poor thing! It's 115? Stay indoors!
Have a great day!
Hugs,
sonya

Blue skies? How nice! I'm sure it's a welcome sight :)
And isn't it nice that you are only a phone call and a few time zones away from those you love? I'm sure your mom will be happy to chat :)

Happy Tuesday! Kimmie

I've never lived near anyone with chickens - how do they tolerate this heat? Your salad looks so yummy!
Thanks for your comment on my blog :) I found a few cute tunics at Monsoon - not many stores seem to have them despite their comfort and popularity. And I totally hear you on the comfy shoes! Blinged out heels don't do it for me either, hiking or not! I read a lot of digital mags now since they're easier to come by, although I do miss reading the printed version (I used Zinio to subscribe to them). I do love the Japanese bookstore too and I've found the selection at the Waitrose in the Dubai Marina Mall is quite good too. :) have a great trip!

Love your chicken pictures! Too funny about the tree restriction but not animals?? I wish I could have chickens... Even though I am in a small town, I don't think they will let me have chickens in my subdivision.

What a wonderful picture of you and your mom.

Have a wonderful week!

Hi Tammy,

I hope the rooster does not wake you too early, when you are on holiday.
I love the sweet photo of you and your Mum and your salad looks so delicious.

When we moved here a few years ago we kept hearing a rooster crow in the middle of the night...lol...we decided he was not quiet right (to put it mildly) ha

I remember staying with family in the holidays and being woken at an ungodly hour by their rooster...it was rather annoying.

Lunch looks rather scrumptious..enjoy!!

You don´t need an alarm-clock when you have a rooster next door! ;P ;P
When I was in Turkey for the first time back in 1993 I lived on a zero class hotel with no glass in the windows and the rooster next door did wake me up each morning... But it was cozy in some way. :)

I love your "every-day-life-photos".
Blessings to you on your holiday!

What would life be without a rooster to wake you up in the morning? I know there are chickens near our compound, but with all the expats in the compound, no chickens inside the gates to wake me up each day.
Your salad looks yummy. I made one very similar last night with dinner.
Love the picture of you and your mom. She has not changed a bit from when I met her 6 or 7 years ago. I see a lot of you in her when i look at the two of you together! I hope you got a chance to talk with her and catch up.

Enjoy your summer days, my friend!

Love,
Renee
