Tuesday Tidings

I was up early today. Could not stop thinking about the boy who was killed and how his mom must be feeling.

One of my made over candle jars all wrapped up. A gift for my friend Kathy who did my hair this morning. Ironically and sadly, I found out today that her nephew (who has a twin) also died two days before Christmas because of a car accident in Venezuela. He would have been 19 in February. The coincidence with the accident here is just uncanny, unimaginable.

We had a lovely lunch together. I love going to her place. She has a flair for decorating and her home is so beautiful and comfortable.

After lunch, another crochet session. She knits beautiful scarves, but has never learned to crochet. We are working on a trellis shawl. An easy pattern, but unfortuntely, not easy to find the best yarn for the project as choices are so limited in Kuwait. My yarn is on the left and her's is on the right. I think I will try to find a different yarn and start over.

Zack got to do a taste test. Sugar cookies with homemade or store bought frosting. He agreed that homemade frosting is the best.

I hope everyone is having a terrific Tuesday! Sweet dreams! Tammy

Tammy, Your blog reminds me of my childhood in Turkey. The brass, the colors, the people who are so generous at heart. I first saw the Sound of Music while living in Turkey. The images on screen were not at all like the ones around me; setting permanently into place my rose colored glasses! Have a great week! Elizabeth

So sad when lives are ended with so few years lived...

Very nice shawl pattern, love the lacy look. It's wonderful to share something like learning how to crochet with another person.

Keeping in prayer those and their families that you have mentioned. I cannot even begin to try to imagine their heartache! God bless all.
The shawl is beautiful, can't wait to see the finished product.
Thank you for stopping by to "see me" too. Always enjoy reading your comments. Blessings to your day!

Too many sad things at this beautiful time of year....never a good time for them, though...

Love that you're crocheting a shawl, and looking forward to seeing it completed! I agree with Zack--NOTHING beats homemade frosting! Hope you're having a beautiful day, Tammy!

Tammy, what sad news you had to share with us. One can hardly imagine the loss of one's child at any time of year, but worse even this close to the holidays when everything seem to happy and joyous. I will keep those mothers in my thoughts.

I hope you will show us your finished shawl. I have not crocheted in ages! My mother so loved to crochet afghans, and each of the children's beds displays one of her "works of art". ~~ Debby

I am sorry to hear about your friend's loss. I imagine this must be heavily on your mind. We wonder why.... these things happen.

now... I have to ask you... did you make those cookies? No not my Jillian?! She would not be making these yummies while denying her student? Ha! part of me is joking, part not:( At least tell me you did not eat any. Maybe that is why Zack had a headache.
Love ya bunches!!!!

OMG... You are in Kuwait and they have a CK there... What is wrong with us here in the States... I'm totally lovin' CK from all the UK blog friends I have. Maybe, I have to have a trip to Kuwait instead of the UK.

I just found you via my friend Creative Breathing. She inspires me everyday.

Hope you can stop by my garden some time and have a visit with me and my friends.

Being a mother the loss of a child is surely devasting. It is the biggest loss I feel.
I am sorry your friend is dealing with this.

I am jealous of you crocheting. My grandmother did crochet and knitting and believe it or not my mom does neither. I thought it was something that was supposed to be handed down. Dang it. :)
I can't wait to see your shawl done. Hey I am sending my hubby packages weekly to Afghanistan if you have a certain yarn you'd like to try let me know and I can drop a box in the mail to you too.
Thanks for your comments they are so nice to read. I am interested in knowing how you came to live in Kuwait.
Visit again.

thanks, Tammy, for commenting on my blog yesterday. So glad you had a wonderful lunch, but sad to hear of another loss--especially so young. It's even sadder I think to hear of such tragic news so close to Christmas. I love the shawl and can't wait to see what yours looks like when you've finished. Have a great day!

Tammy,
What an aweful thing about both of the boys killed. The story really tugs at my heart as I have triplets, 2 of them identical twins. I cannot even imagine the Mothers pain.
On a better note. I agree with the blogger who said 'how is it Kuwait has CK & the US does not'. You are lucky to have her store. Lisa

I'm glad you had a chance to "escape" for a little while with your friend in a place that you feel so comfortable. It sure can lift the Spirit being in good company, although I think your friend is the lucky one having such a friend as you! Judi

I feel bad to know that there has been so many innocent lives lost recently. I am very sorry to hear about Kathy's nephew.

It looks like you had a really nice afternoon with Kathy. Lunch looks wonderful. I really wish I could see her place now after all I have heard you talk about how much you like it. I wish I was there to try to learn to crochet with you two. One of these days...

The cookies look fantastic. I have never tried to make homemade frosting, even though I know it is very simple. I hope you had more will power than I did when I made sugar cookies at Christmas time. It was not pretty...

Glad you had a nice day!! It's been quiet but really nice here.

Love,
Renee
