Take Thankfully the Past

"What you need to know about the past is that no matter what has happened, it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment. And this is the moment you can choose to make everything new. Right now." ~Author Unknown

At school there is a staff room stocked with books people bring in for swapping and sharing. Before the holiday, I found this book next to a box on the floor. The appearance of age and the color are what I was first drawn to.

When I opened it and saw the date 1926, I just couldn't image why anyone would just throw it out.

There's even an Army stamp on the inside cover.

It now sits in my living room.

"Live neither in the past nor in the future, but let each day's work absorb your entire energies, and satisfy your widest ambition." Sir William Osler (1849 - 1919), to his students

Wishing you a bright and beautiful New Year!

Peace & blessings, Tammy

I love old books, especially if they have markings or inscriptions in them. I'm glad you found this one and rescued it! Enjoy it (I'm sure you will!) and I wish a wonderful, blessed New Year to you and your family.

Tammy I just love old books too! I have shelves of them - so many crafts using old pages but I have such a hard time parting with them! I did use one that was in several pieces for crafts - hope it will last a long time as I don't think I could tear another old book apart!

Praying your 2010 brings many more wonderful memories!

What a fabulous thought! I have often thought that myself, that no matter what has happened, both the bad and the good, it has brought me to this very moment in life. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU! hugs Debby

What a wonderful treasure you have found at your "swapping room". I suggest you don't let my mom know you have that, as she loves old books more than anything. Really, it looks amazing, and the army stamp inside makes it all that much better. REALLY COOL!! It looks great in your living room!

Hoping 2010 is filled with much sucess, happiness and wonderful things for you!!

Thinking of you as always,

Love,
Renee

You have a good eye for treasures. I love books old or new.
Thanks for leaving such a nice comment about my home the other day. I really appreciate you taking the time to come by and then commenting. I felt funny posting my home but I knew everyone was curious about the old farm house. Soon when the weather clears up I will take outside pictures.
Also sweet of you to comment about Kaci's picture. I do so love it. I framed it and am thinking about over my bed.
Take care and have a very Happy New Year
Maggie

Happy New Year Tammy.
I love the old book and glad that it is at your place where it can be appreciated.
That is one of my wishes, to have a work room, instead of taking over the dinning table and house.
May you have a wonderful year ahead, with much love, good health and happiness.

Hugs
Carolyn

Tammy, thanks for visiting my blog. I am trying to get caught up on reading others' writings this morning. I have had so much company for the holidays, I have not been on the computer much.
I truly enjoyed the little journey I ventured on this morning reading your posts through December 6th, into a place I will probably never get the chance to visit. Love the crafts! I especially liked your recycled Happy Holidays. Thanks for inviting me into your little part of the world. I joined your follower list and will be back for a visit!

I GUESS ITS TRUE THAT SOME PEOPLE'S TRASH IS ANOTHER ONES TREASURE. DID YOU READ IT OR JUST GET IT FOR DECORATION? IM MORE OF A MAGAZINE READER THAN A BOOK READER. LOOKS LOVELY SITTING IN YOUR LIVING ROOM. IT FOUND ITSELF A GOOD HOME.
