Rug Making

Last Sunday I had my first course in rug making.

The tools and supplies.
And the loom.
It's easy once you get the hang of it, but time consuming.
We are only making a small sample and I've already made a few mistakes.
I can't imagine spending up to one year weaving a rug.
We are supposed to wind up with a nice design in the end.
With only 3 more classes to go.
Wish me luck!

Dearest Tammy,
You are daring to try so many different things! I've made Smyrna rugs before, out of pre-cut wool with a hook and over 10,000 knots to tie. Never again! I felt like a slave sitting on the floor with that ever heavier getting rug. But it served us for years and I left it with my parents.
Hugs to you,
Mariette

Hi Tammy, I've never tried that but it must be fun to learn.

I'm sorry to hear about your cousin's step-daughter. The poor boys lost their mom way too early. That is so sad.

Hugs,
Julia

Enjoy ! It is amazing to think how in the olden days rugs, quilts, clothing....were all handmade! I struggle with sewing / quilting ...yet still want to perservere at it. Even if your rug has mistakes it will be beautiful in the end and something that you will be proud of : )

Tammy, how awesome. I would love to try it (I've always experimented with an array of creative projects) but I'm actually not sure I would have the patience for this, lol! I'd love to know something about the history of weaving a rug.
P.s. Thanks so much for kind words on my blog!
