Purposeful Purchasing

greensac is an eco-friendly store in Kuwait dedicated to protecting the environment and promoting green living.  They sell reusable shopping bags and fair trade items from developing countries around the world.

These zippered pouches were made by women in Yemen.
BHcrafts is a world fair trade non-profit organization that promotes products made by refugee women of Bosnia and Herzegovina.  Each item is labelled with the name of the woman who made it.
This mobile pouch was knit by Aldijana.
Beaded snowflakes and cards (Memos for Mali) were being sold to support the mission of building schools and providing clean water in Mali.

These were the purchases I made at Saturday's craft bazaar.
It feels good knowing that the money I spent was for good causes.

Have a blessed day!

Those are all lovely items and what a great way to do your Christmas shopping! We don't have anything like that here...we hardly even have any stores at all! LOL! God sent me here so I wouldn't be tempted to spend but he/she forgot about the internet! LOL!

Hi Tammy, the fair and your finds are wonderful. I love handcrafted items like this and what a worthwhile cause!

I also love your crocheted stones, a few posts back. I dont crochet so I resorted to hot gluing antique lace to my beach rocks....sigh. You do lovely work.

Hapy Thanksgiving, do you cclebrate it?

I like shopping for a cause, too. We have a similar store here, and I buy a few things each year as stocking stuffers for my kids. You found some really pretty things at the bazaar, too.

Hi Tammy

Goes a long way in making up for a cause. Your gesture of purchasing these artfacts with an intention of helping a cause is really appreciable.

Your post reminded me of this book.
Stones into schools is a book you must read. A real account of how the author, Greg Mortenson went about building schools in Afganistan. A hiker.... he fell down and hurt himself and dragged himself into a village in Afghanistan. Villagers took care of him and when he asked them what they wanted in return for their hospitality, they asked for a school. He then went about collecting money for this cause and built many many schools in Afghanistan.
