Tea and Sweet Things to make it better

Today I'm having tea with Kimmie at Art in Red Wagons.  My favorite Twinings Organic Lemon & Ginger tea along with sheet pound cake, strawberries and sweetened yogurt.  The cake has a lovely hint of lemon that goes really well with the tea.  The yogurt is Activia natural sweetened with a bit of powdered sugar.
Sheet Pound Cake:  1 cup flour, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt, 5 TBS softened butter, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 tsp lemon zest, 1/2 tsp vanilla, 2 eggs, 1/3 cup of milk.  Mix together and place in a greased square baking pan in a 350 oven.

I'm thinking I might need more than a piece of cake to make me feel better at the moment.  Maybe some brownies will do.
On the way out of the parking lot after school today, a big SUV was parked with its backside hanging over into the exit.  I thought, how the heck am I gonna get by without going off the curb.  (Maybe I need some cookies, too.  Recipe found here.)
Well, turns out, I didn't -- I managed to get the first half of my car past, but then scraped the whole backside  and took off one of its tail lights in the process.  I hate when stuff like this happens.  My husband says we can fix the car, but now he will tease me endlessly.  He loves nothing more than to aggravate me.  I should have gone off the curb ... slowly.

So, how's your day shaping up?

Glad I found you. Thanks for visiting my blog. I was wondering how this Tea Tuesday was going to work....now I think I know.
What a shame about your scrape but don't worry, if he teases you just offer him some tea and a huge slce of cake:)

What a bummer indeed ..... We have a thing here where I NEVER complain if DH has even a fender-bender. Considering he just got his 34th year of safe driving at work & he travels several hundred thousand miles in a rig every year. WHEW .....
Have a great Day !!

Car issues are so frustrating. I have had my fair share of scrapes and it is so annoying, I think you need cake, brownies and cookies for sure. Plus uninterrupted crochet time, a nice bath and a movie.

Sorry about your little mishap. I know what you meant about being teased...as if it was your fault.
Hope your goodies have made you feel much better by now. I know I would. Chocolate makes it all better.
I copied your pound cake. I usually buy it because I don't have a tried and true recipe...now I do.
Hope tomorrow is better.

I think pound cake, brownies AND cookies are what is needed today! Sheesh - that was hardly your fault either!

Oh dear! My day is going so-so. Hope yours gets better. A day with pound cake, brownies, and cookies in it can't be too bad. Thanks especially for the pound cake recipe.

Sorry about the car, Tammy. At least you weren't hurt. I hate it when things like that happen, though.

Take care, take it easy, and make those brownies----double batch! ha! Susan

You are an angel for sharing the recipe! I've been thinking ginger, lemon and pear could be a good combination for something...cupcakes served with lemon ginger tea perhaps? So glad you were not hurt!

Hi Tammy,
So sorry about your car, did something bad to mine before christmas and sadly it is no more. Never mind, cakes make for great compensation and you're ok, that's the main thing.
Take care and enjoy the cakes,
Angela.

It's awful, that feeling. Definitely, all of the sweets. And could I have a cookie too, please? Thank you!
I'm already knitting away so that part of therapy is taken care of :)
Take care, my dear.

Thanks for all your kind words of inspiration. I'm always delighted to see all the healthy choices you have here. I know it's a change, but it's going to be a change for the better. And it doesn't hurt that we were in the 40s again today in Chicago. Two walks of 35 minutes. Great fun to see what's on your hook. Keep it up.

So glad to have found you through Kimmie and so understand the car thing... I hate doing things like that and yes you do get teased endlessly, or at least I always have whenever I have done something like that... I think I would need about twenty cups of tea to get past that one... I am a fan of the lemon and ginger, but really love an earl grey by T2 which is just perfect with lemon cake... hope it all gets better and thanks so much for visiting me...xx

Oh, man. so sorry, Tammy!! I hate it when things like that happen too... it is that sick feeling you get when you know you have messed up. Hate it! That car's owner was very inconsiderate to park blocking the drive! Glad you had all those goodies to console yourself. I think I need sympathy consoling. ;) Hope your tomorrow is a wonderful day. blessings ~ Tanna

So sorry about the car Tammy, the big SUV should have parked more considerately.
The chocolate brownies and the strawberries look so good.
Hope the rest of the week will be better.

So sorry to hear about the car, but brownies and strawberries can make it better. At least for me as they are my favorite!

Have a wonderful week.

Oh no, so sorry to hear this news, Tammy! Best to try and forget about it now, and enjoy that delicious cake! I love that same lemon and ginger tea too. Hope your week just gets better from now on.

I had started to stop by for tea yesterday, then a friend from out of town called and picked me up. I was out the door before I could even get to anyone who hadn't already posted in the early morning.

I feel so sorry for you. I have a friend whose dad backed into the car I'm driving and broke the tail light. My friend got it fixed with a red cellophane looking stuff. But the trunk doesn't open well now, either.

That darned SUV!! Sorry you ended up with damage to the car. What a bummer!

Yes, lots of comfort food should do the trick. xo

Sounds like a typical husband to me ! ;)
I need to do some baking tomorrow because my mother in law will visit us this weekend. So maybe I will come up with some recipe on my blog. I have not been blogging so much this week because I didn´t do any crafting. Just exercising! :)
Take care!

For goodness' sake! Last week I also got into a minor scrape with my beloved old station wagon. It was my fault, too....I hate that! ;) I've been with my insurance company for 24 yrs and this is the 1st claim we've had to file. But, as the insurance adjuster said to me, "these things happen". So, I've let it go.
Chocolate does go a long way in making these things better :) Be kind to yourself~
