I have been saving coffee cans for a while now. Just can't bring myself to throw them out. So yesterday I gathered up bits of leftover yarn and crocheted a cozy can cover. Will make a nice gift filled with homemade cookies or a plant.
This evening I started another bowl, using all the colorful yarn bits I could find. And believe me, I have a lot.

pretty crochet and pretty dish....yum.
I have seen a lot of covered tins and I think it is a fantastic idea. Great way to use those bits and scraps. I swear I am coming over for lunch, everything you make looks so yummy!
Have a wonderful day,
Meredith
Excellent use of scraps. I must start saving my coffee cans!
Your crochet really adds so much to the "canned" gift. :o) Adore your yarn bowl also. My Grandma would use every last inch of her yarns. She once made an afghan she named Jacob's Coat because of the many colors. Great lunch...looks like my dinner tonight but with basmati rice instead of risotto. Happy week to you dear...
Pretty can cover and bowl. I always love scrappy projects. Have a great day. :)
Your cozy is so COZY....and your dinner sounds fab!
hugs,
Jo
It makes us feel so good to use things up. Great post Tammy. Diane
I don't knit, but watching what you do with such ease makes me want to! What nice photos.

I used to like leftovers until I got seriously sick this past week after eating leftovers and I don't know if they are what caused it or not (probably not), but I told Jim we won't do leftovers much anymore, if at all. I'd rather throw something out than get sick from it and that's just the way it is with me.
No craftiness going on here as usual - instead, we've had just a nice quiet weekend, movies, lunch out, grocery shopping, decorating for St. Patrick's Day (yes, I decorate for ALL holidays), and just getting ready for Jim's surgery on Tuesday. Tomorrow is a holiday so we're still enjoying our weekend, though Jim has all of his pre-op stuff in the morning. Still hoping to salvage most of the day with maybe lunch out and going to see the movie, The Vow, later in the day.
Hope you have a good week. I haven't felt like writing lately.

No one would guess that coffee cans are under those lovely covers. Love them. My favorite meals are leftovers. I had leftover chicken rice casserole yesterday and leftovers from the Mexican restaurant today.
Have a good week.
Crochet, crochet, crochet! I must make the time and just figure it out. I'm a smart girl. I have hooks, I have wool...
I love what you do!
Blessings, Debbie
You sure are a fast stitcher! It takes me ages to make one little project!
Pretty coffee can covers! You do come up with some great ideas. Colorful too!
Great idea! I save all of my fabric bits and pieces and use them for various projects also. Yes, Jack and Jingles do look like they could be related. Even their names are alike.
Great way to use the tin Tammy. My leftovers go into a plastic box and straight into the freezer as a complete meal, then after working all day, I have a portion sized meal ready.
Have a great week,
Hugs, Angela.
Hi dear Tammy
what a great way to cover a tin - you must find endless uses for these lovelies!
Parmesan risotto sounds pretty cool too!
Shane
So creative and colorful! Love your waste not philosophy.
I LOVE YOUR CROCHET COVERS AND YOUR BOWL...THE COLORS ARE GREAT......HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A GREAT DAY...RIZZI
I love reading your posts! You are so right...need to always have some fun and I must have been channeling you yesterday because I sat down with my crochet hook yesterday too. I have knitting to do but I am WAY better at crocheting so right now IT is more fun! LOL!
Parmesan risotto with veggies? YUMMO!!! I'm going to have to try that one. I have all the ingredients too. Love your coffee can covers and bowls...one of these days I'll try that too. I've only crocheted flat things...I need to wrap my brain around that. I was on Ravelry yesterday and printed off some really cute little project patterns (free) from Attic24. You should check her out. I think you would like her things...very colorful too which I like. Your kitten would love her little hanging birds! LOL! That's my next project...."just for the FUN of it!" Have a great week!
P.S. Have you ever tried oatmeal containers for covering? I was going to put rocks in the bottom to weight it and then cover the rocks with a circular piece of cardboard and then they have plastic lids so I would punch a hole in the lid for my yarn to come out and then it could sit on the floor and my yarn wouldn't go rolling off everywhere. I was going to decoupage the outside but your crocheted covers would be more in keeping with the theme of YARN. Just an idea...I have lots...it's the follow-through that I don't have a lot of! Ha! Ha!
LOVE your coffee can coats! What a wonderful difference they make. OH, that risotto with veggies has my mouth watering...YUM!
Hi Tammy!
I actually made risotto for our Valentine's Day dinner and it tasted good! Lemon Herb Risotto!
