Morning Matters

I make sure that my boys eat breakfast every day before school. Toast with pb&j and a banana. Oatmeal with chocolate chips and pecans. Scrambled eggs with buttered toast and jam.  Easy but healthy is what I am going for. So on weekend mornings, it is nice to fix something a little more special.
The whole wheat pancake recipe I use was given to me by my friend, Renee. Handwritten in a recipe book she gave me years ago.  Strawberries and bananas with powdered sugar on the side.
After breakfast, I spent time rolling my yarn into balls.  I find it makes crocheting much easier.
Another day at home, my favorite place to be.

You must have a room or a certain hour of the day or so where you do not know what was in the  morning paper ... a place where you can simply experience and bring forth what you are, and what you might be ... At first you may find nothing's happening ... But if you have a sacred place and use it, take of advantage of it, something will happen.  (Joseph Campbell)

I hope you have a fabulous Friday!

That looks great and what a good Mom you are. :) I'm not so good, lol, seriously - None of us eat breakfast at our house, never have, except on the occasional weekend. I'm not even home when Sarah is up and getting ready for school - long gone to work.

I should post what we had for DINNER the other night though (a yummy, rich breakfast item). Sometiems we do breakfast foods at dinnertime.

Hope you're enjoying a great weekend. Mine is just about to begin in just a few short hours and it will be a very quiet house for sure.

The pancakes look delicious. We try to eat breakfast before we go to work but it is usually just Cheerios. Have a good weekend.

Feeding the boys breakfast sparked a past memory of our son and Pop Tarts. Long story short, we found ALL of them in the truck of his car one day. There had to have been 6 dozen! He took a pkg on his way out the door each morning and instead of eating them, threw them into the trunk. :(

I like the yarn balls....they are happy and waiting to have to play with them!

Have a great weekend yourself!

Those pancakes look scrummy, have you posted the recipe at any time?

My workroom is at the top of the house, it is basic with painted floorboards, shelves, my computer and all my craft needs. It is my escape hatch. Mr.T knows that I like to be on my own up there and so doesn't bother me. Lovely.....
He's usually down stairs doing a bit of reading or crochet.

What is powderes sugar, never heard of it?

Breakfast...the most important meal of the day an you are making it so healthy and good for your family.

Love those yarn balls. I wish they came that way in the first place but then again I would miss the soothing activity of creating them. Have a good weekend, Tammy.

I think I should come eat breakfast at your house! Even the "school day" breakfasts sound fabulous! Yummy!

Those beautiful colored yarns are enough to cheer everyone up! I have a basket of yarn by my chair for these winter evenings. They aren't as colorful as yours, but they keep my hands busy doing something useful after a busy day. It's crisp, cold, and frosty here!

Thanks for the recipe, I do whole wheat everything. I just clicked on the recipe book in your picture and it came up large enough that I could see it and copy it. Also, love the quote. My ex used to think I was crazy because I needed my alone time well....I'm all alone now and love it and no more having to "explain myself".
The yarn looks delectable!!!! Such pretty colors...what are you going to make?
I always fixed my kids things from scratch too, we never did fast food and we had our own garden. Now, they have their own families and feed them junk food...where did I go wrong? LOL!

We love pancakes at our house too. I must remember to serve fruit with them instead of just plain old maple syrup.

I've just ordered some yarn over the internet and am going to join you in your crochet obsession just as soon as I learn how!

I always made sure the kids ate breakfast before school and my now-adult children are still in the habit of a daily breakfast. However, Aaron is a whole other story. From around 11 years old, he refused breakfast and I couldn't force him if I tried. He may sometimes eat breakfast but that's usually on weekends.

Your pancakes look delicious! I don't always eat breakfast myself but, occasionally, I do enjoy poached or scrambled eggs on toast or a bowl of cornflakes. We have porridge in winter. YUM! Aaron does love his porridge in winter so at least he eats breakfast then.

I'm about due to roll some new balls of wool too. I'm been busy working away on a granny stripe throw blanket.

I LOVE that Joseph Campbell quote!

Have a beautiful weekend ~ xo

Tammy, when are we all invited to breakfast because that looks very yummy. I love to roll my yarn into balls, I have a ball winder but I really don't use it much, rolling it by hand lets me get to know the yarn a little better.
Happy Weekend!

You are a good Mom. I used to make mine breakfast then when they were teens, I was lucky if they ate a bowl of cereal. I enlarged the recipe and am going to try it for Hubby. He loves pancakes and waffles too. I would love that bowl of strawberries and bananas.
Liked the quote. My swing on the patio at our old house was my place. Haven't really found one here yet.
Have a great weekend with your family.

The pancakes look great (so do the yarn balls!) I like the fruity idea. Definitely better than just syrup!
