Thankful Thursday

Hello again! Only a 4-day week and the weekend is already here. I am so thankful! One of my first tasks this afternoon was getting the Christmas tree and decorations all packed away. After moving stuff around in December to have room for the tree, there is now an empty space that needs something. Tomorrow, we shop!

One of the ornaments I put away is a Hallmark Keepsake Ornament from 2000 -- Father Time with Baby New Year. The whole world went a little berserk when that year rolled around -- and look at us now, ringing in 2010.

My how time flies! These ornaments are special because they were made by the boys. Yusef painted the ornament on the left in 1999 when he was 4 and Zack painted the one on the right in 2002, also age 4.

Now everything is put away. Tomorrow, I clean!

We had some very grateful parents send several very large bouquets of flowers to the front office. They just brought their elementary child back to school after a long absence due to heart surgery. I was able to bring home some of the blooms today and placed them around the living and dining room.

"Grow flowers of gratitude in the soil of prayer." ~Verbena Woods

I'm hoping these branches will last for some time. The florist glued orchid blooms to them, which seems wasteful as orchids are so beautiful and should just be left to bloom as they are, but I love the branches. I want to add more natural elements to my decor in this New Year.

So far tomorrow's agenda includes shopping and cleaning. Zack has baseball practice in the morning and we will head over to the Friday Souk (which is like a big flea market), plus we are going out for Thai food with friends. Weather has been good so should be a wonderful day! I love the weekends. Wishing you all a day of joy! Peace & blessings, Tammy

Hi Tammy!!
How great for you to get a 3 days weekend!! Our decorations were put away last weekend & everthing seems to be back to normal... or as normal as it ever gets. LOL!!
Now the weather has taken another bad turn as we are getting a snowstorm tonight & another Arctic Cold snap the next 3 days. WC's will way below zero!!

Sounds like fun. SHOPPING! I just got through with all my Christmas stuff too and it felt good to be done with it even though we enjoyed it. Have a good time and a blessed weekend!

So, sweet. Just think...now you can look back anytime of the year at your blog and see all this holiday spirit. Stop by bringing you some U.S. music from way back today. Just to bring you home for a second.

Hi Tammy, wow, it does seem strange thinking back to New Year's 2000. alot has changed in my life since then. The boys ornaments are so sweet, great that you could keep them. Your branches are beautiful! Love the orchid leaves! Thank you Tammy for being there on the BSB. I sure appreciate your presence and input.
hugs and blessings,
Debra

Tammy,

Sounds like a full fun day ahead of you. Love fresh flowers but even more...heirlooms that your kids make. I love pulling out the stuff to decorate the tree and remembering how or why it was made...and by whom. Enjoy shopping and watching your son play and eating of coarse..lol

I have favorite ornaments my children have made over the years, too! =) I still have a few decorations scattered about the house I need to put away, but our tree came down on New Year's Eve day. Amazing how quickly the holiday just comes and goes! Have a happy weekend!

Yes, this weekend had come as quickly as it started. One more day left of absolute freedom and back to work. Not sure whether Im looking forward to it or not. Hard to believe that 10 years has come and gone....still havent gotten that xstitch done....HA! The fathertime ornament is definately a keepsake and maybe even will end up being an antique.
Glad to see that one of your students came back after such a delicate surgery and that you put the parents flowers of gratitude to good use instead of a garbage bin. You did a lovely job arranging them and the lit candles gives it a warming ambience that is very soothing to take in. Hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your flowers.

My gosh, you are always so busy! Of course, when my boys were at home and I was working I was always on the go, too. Sometimes I miss that and sometimes I don't.☺ Have a great day, sweetie, you deserve it.

Time flies indeed! It's already the end of the first week of January! :-o
I'm taking the Christmas decorations over the weekend. Each thing has its own box, so it takes a while, though it is the only way to make them last a long time. It always feels somewhat empty after Christmas, but I'm sure I'll find things to warm up the place.
Have a great weekend ahead!

Glad you were able to get things put away and are ready to bring new stuff in to cover the empty space. Your flowers and branches are beautiful. There is something about having flowers in the house. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. It sounds busy, but enjoyable for sure.

Love,
Renee
