I am thankful for this day and all that I have.
My heart goes out to all who have pain and suffering.
I think of all those in Haiti who have lost all.
And pray that they will find hope in the midst of despair.
"Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul.
And sings the tune
Without the words,
and never stops at all."
Emily Dickinson
US poet (1830 - 1886)

My thoughts go out to all those people in Haiti, too. Such a sad time in history we're witnessing.
You read my mind. It's sometimes too easy to just not think about it, when it's not in your small world.
As I watched the news all day yesterday, it was clear that we were witnessing something so, so tragic and so, so close to home.
They are all in my prayers today, as I go about my daily greatfulness.
I don't think it is possible to survive without hope. We must give the people in Haiti hope, and a reason to survive. They had so little to begin with.
Tammy you have written a beautiful post here and I'm thankful to be able to come here today to read it. Our planet is getting smaller because we are able to connect with people in parts of the world we never thought possible just a few short years ago. Our love increases for our fellowman when our world gets smaller. And I find I hurt when they hurt and I rejoice when they rejoice...and right now I hurt.

Hope in the midst of despair is something I thought on yesterday, as I read the update from a Christian run Orphanage in Haiti that my local favorite Christian radio station supports:
http://www.hishomeforchildren.com/
As you'll see there, the orphanage was spaired and thus I saw God (hope) in the midst of suffering.
I love your post, as always.
Last night as I was watching HGTV on television - I believe it was the House Hunters show - I watched the couple on the television complain about the size of the home's bathrooms (bathrooms that were gigantic compared to ours), and I remarked to my husband "You know, the majority of the western world is so spoiled." I went on that people don't like to hear this much, but it's true, speaking of myself and my family as well. There on the tv this couple was complaining about something so silly as a bathroom - and there are people living in mud huts. People who have lost everything to tragedy. People who have never even seen a television set.
Just makes one think... you know.
We are the Hope of the people of Haiti..give to Dr's without borders..or Red Cross...a few dollars will help them survive this cruel act of nature..
Beautiful post, as always.
The destruction there is almost more than I can comprehend. My heart is aching for them.

Again...when something like this happens, I don't watch the news because I start to cry and I'm hormonal enough. I am thankful every single day and the country of Haiti is on my mind.

It surely is tragic isn't it? I just can't imagine how horrible things are there now. We can see it on TV, but nothing can ever compare to what it truly is like being there. Hope you're well Tammy ~ Judi
I have connections and some friends in Haiti. I have prayed for two days and hope is all they have. But it will get better and they know that.

I watched the news for hours tonight with Ernie... all about the disaster in Haiti. We are going to send donations to them. Other than that ... we will pray and mourn with them. We wonder why? why? I hope someday we will all come to know and understand why these things happen.... hoping the Lord will explain it all to us... the suffering that goes on in the world.
My heart goes out to all those precious souls who have lost so much- so make me yearn for things to be made right once and for eternity!

May heart breaks for those who are suffering in Haiti. I just pray in Jesus name... There is a greater purpose in all things that happen good and sad. Ultimately I hope and it will bring some people the miracles they need to turn to Jesus. When bad things happen It is an awesome opportunity for Christians to witness to Christ as they severe those who suffering and Give aid and hope to those in Haiti! God Bless, Deborah

A very touching and heartfelt message. I think everyone here just about said it all and there is not much more that I can add only the prayer I have for the people going through this and the thankfulness in my heart that I have to be untouched by such devastation.
Wonderful pictures and wonderful words, dearest Tammy! Hugs Traude

I am thankful for so many things, and feel very bad for the natural disasters that destroy so many lives. The thing I do take some pleasure from is seeing people come together to try to help. There are a number of benefits planned to raise money to help the people of Haiti, and that puts a smile on my face. They certainly need help from as many people as possible.
Thanks for your thoughtful post today!!
