Well, today it was back to school for me and the kids. A few minutes into our morning drive and a bus decided to play bumper cars with us.
It's like I'm the flame and all the drivers out there are the moths. My car has been dented, scraped, bumped and banged more times than I can count. I never had this problem in the States. Some days I just want to sit on a bench and watch the world go by.
Jingles just doesn't know what an easy life she has.
Especially when lots of kitties have to live in the streets. It is a real problem in this country. Someone takes a kitten home because they think it is cute, but as it gets older, they put it out and so the cycle begins. Cats running the streets like mice do in the cities. I keep food and containers in my car and feed them as I am able.
Zack had baseball practice after school. At least my car wasn't slammed in a way that made it undrivable. I don't know what I would do without my car.
Today is Sam's 51st birthday. He doesn't really like to celebrate them but I gave him a turtleneck and 2010 edition of the Guiness Book of World Records. For dinner I baked fresh salmon, made potatoes, broccoli and a tomato & cilantro salad. Brownies for dessert.
(The picture above is from our lunch out on Saturday and that is not the turtleneck he got this evening.) He was a little uptight about the accident, but I put things in perspective. Would you rather have a crushed car or crushed kids? Honestly, it could have been much worse. We had a nice walk this evening. The weather is good and we have the most amazing sunsets lately.
"Life is a train of moods like a string of beads; and as we pass through them they prove to be many colored lenses, which paint the world their own hue, and each shows us only what lies in its own focus." (Ralph Waldo Emerson)
Tomorrow is another day! Hopefully a quiet and uneventful one. Peace & blessings, Tammy

SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR CAR. BUT LIKE YOU SAID, IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE.
WISH SAM A HAPPY BIRTHDAY FROM ME.
TOMORROW THE 5TH IS RAY'S 68TH BIRTHDAY. AND HE DOESN'T WANT A PARTY OR ANYTHING. SO I AM GRANTING HIS REQUEST. EVERY YEAR I HAVE CAKE AND ICE CREAM AND FAMILY (WHO LIVE NEAR TO US) AND FRIENDS OVER. BUT THIS YEAR I AM NOT. WILL SEEM STRANGE NOT HAVING ANYONE HERE.
WE HAVE LOTS OF STRAY CATS IN OUR NEIGHBOR HOOD ALSO. I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE TO BE ON LEASHES ALSO. BUT THEY DON'T HAVE TO. AND THAT IS WHY THERE ARE SO STRAY CATS OUT THERE. WE HAVE A HOUSE ON OUR STREET THAT LEAVES FOOD AND WATER OUT FOR THEM ALL THE TIME. SO THEY DON'T LOOK AS HUNGRY AS THEY DID WHEN THEY ALL STARTED APPEARING OVER A YEAR AGO.
HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK. LOVE KAY
I love that you always put things in perspective no matter what's going on. ♥ I'm so sorry about your car. I know how upsetting car issues are and there is the frustration of living in a world that doesn't always care for things in the way they should. The cat issue would bother me greatly - I'm a huge proponent of keeping cats indoors - the Vet Med community agrees with me because they live longer and are healthier. I do carry Winston outside with us sometimes on his leash, but he is never allowed to run around and honestly, he doesn't even show an interest in doing so. Instead, he has a warm, comfortable home where he is entirely loved and cared for. He's not missing out on anything. The only way I'd allow my cat to run around, is if we lived far out in the country on a farm. Otherwise, there are just too many dangers in urban areas.
I'll step off my soapbox now, but you can tell, it bothers me to see animals not being cared for. Bless you for your caring spirit.
Your husband is just a bit younger than mine - my Jim turned 53 on Christmas Eve. He too always says that he doesn't want me to make a fuss, but I do anyway. ;-) I think the gifts you described are very nice.
Well, my friend, I pray that tomorrow will indeed be a much better day for you, and that God will continue to show you the precious, sweet blessings that are all around us in the simple things of life (like in amazing sunsets and the presence of family), even when the world around us is out of control. ♥♥♥
I will keep prayers that tomorrow is a better day for you...my car to is all banged up and comes with many stories if it could only talk.
Sam's dinner sounds yummy to me...can I join you...I wish.
Take care and hope tomorrow bring great surprises...hugs
Icks...what a way to start your week. I swear that don't know how to drive in other countries. This took me right back to driving through Tuscany and back into Florence. But, then the same thing can be said for the senior drivers in Florida, another scarey place.
Anyways, b-day wishes to Sam.
Just think your week can only get better from here.
Hi Tammy,
So sorry to hear about your car. Just glad no one was hurt. Sending you all my best for the New Year and sending many happy birthday wishes to your hubby. Blessings to you and your family.
Hugs and kisses,
♥Ana
P.S.
Love your new blog look and header.
Oh man! Sorry about your car.
Happy Birthday to Sam.
And I LOVE the picture by Zack. Very sweet!
You are so sweet to feed the cats. I have a soft spot for furry critters, too. Breaks my heart to think of homeless animals.
Stop playing bumper cars with busses, girl! :)

Tammy...
Sorry about your accident & Sam...Happy Birthday!!
As for the feral cats... Oh, we have them here. We have 2 neighbors who trap them & get them "fixed" then they let them go again because the are feral & can not be tamed. At least they won't reproduce.....
Good for you for feeding them..... I guess in this day & age our countries think they have more to contend with than passing laws about strays!!
Love,
Marilyn

That is a gorgeous sunset! Sorry about the car. But these things happen. How sad about the cats. I love my furbabies so much. My oldest daughter (now 35) lives in another state, where she grew up. But she's been taking a sack of dog food to an underpass where a dog has been hiding out. She's tried to catch him, but he bit her. If the authorities go to it, they told her they'd shoot it. So she and a friend have been feeding it. Just makes me cry what people think of animals. They're not toys.

Accidents can really shake a person up. Glad you are all safe and that it is only a car that needs repair.
Tammy,
So sorry to read about the fender bender but thankfully no one was hurt!
Happy Birthday to your husband. Sounds like a wonderful dinner.
Jane
Sorry about your car- just a traffic battle scar.. Tell Sam happy birthday.
I had fish this evening. Bill cooked walleye
Love Aunt Elaine
Sorry that happened to you today, Tammy! I know how it feels--yucky! But, you're right--doesn't matter what happens to our "things" as long as our family is fine! Happy birthday to your husband!
I had to laugh at your comment about you being the flame and the others are the moths. I know that feeling. Sorry about your accident, but you are right, better a broken vehicle than a family member.
Happy birthday to the hubby!
So sorry about the accident- It is just not the way we would like our day to go for sure!!
Jingles looks like he is letting it all slide though!

Hi, I saw your comment on Tammy's blog. If you want to, feel free to play along, the next swap is on now!
What an interesting blog you have, I like the pic with the "knitting cat"! :)
Greetings from Germany, LaWendula
OUCH!! What a way to start back to school, getting swiped by a bus!! Really, you never got dinged like this with the VW you used to drive. I am glad you are able to put it behind you and realize that it could have been a lot worse - cars are repairable, while people not so much! I laughed to know that Sam was uptight about it all, as last time I got rearended (through no fault of mine), Omar was MAD!! What to do!!
Love the picture of Jingles. She is cute beyond words. As for all the stray cats, they are lucky to have you! Keep taking care of those little creatures.
Happy birthday to Sam. Hard to believe he is over 50.
Hope getting out to baseball was not too bad. You have had a break for weeks now. I am sure the extra obligation of being out there did not thrill you, as i know you would rather be at home. HA!
Hope today is a better day!!!
Love ya,
Renee
You are so right, better to have a crushed car than kids! Happy Birthday Sam! Seems the men folk don't much like celebrating birthdays, I know mine doesn't want any hoopla. Hope the rest of the week is better for you ~ at least you have the beautiful sunset to see. Judi
Tammy,
You have such a way with words. ... I had to laugh at your moth to flame theory. But I am sorry about your accident and so glad you are all ok.Sam needs to recoganize that your car is a thing... things come and go. I so forgot about his birthday. I will send an ecard. He looks great! Ageing well.must be all the healthy food you make him. Last night I made Ernie and I a clean pizza. whole wheat crust , fresh veggies, etc. it was very good. I am missing you!
love, Gwen
OMG Tammy, I leave to go on vacation and EVERYTHING happened while I was gone! You promised me you wouldn't have any fun without me BUT I surely didn't want you to go through all of this! I'm just catching up on your posts and I'm sorry to hear about your car (it could have been worse) and the baseball loss but so happy that you've been celebrating many birthdays of dear friends and family. I need to hop on over to Gwen's and wish her a belated birthday. I'm soooo behind in reading (& posting)...I guess I just needed a little time for myself.
But I missed you and I wanted to peep in here and let you know that I was thinking of you!!!!
Hope February will be a much better month for you ;)
