Silver Sunday

I hope that everyone is having a relaxing and enjoyable Sunday. Beth at Gypsy Fish is having a Silver Sunday blog party and although I haven't officially joined the party, I thought I would post some silver for today. Maybe, just maybe, next week I'll join the party for real.

A silver jar with lid next to a silver framed photo of my husband's great grandfather.

An unusual purchase from an Indian antiques shop.

A silver tray that sits on a wooden pededstal. The silver framed piece is a joke that a friend gave me. It shows a man who is new to Kuwait and with each passing year, he begins to morph into a camel so that by the time 10 years rolls around, he's totally converted. I think it's funny; my husband doesn't. I've been a camel for 5 years now.

Yesterday was my marathon cleaning spree and boy, do I feel like I ran a marathon. All kinds of muscle aches and pains today. It must be from moving all the furniture in the living room around. I'm always happy when I change things up a bit.

And it probably didn't help that I climbed a ladder and cleaned everything on top of all the cupboards in the kitchen and made room for all my new enamelware.

The kids were banned to their bedroom while I did all the cleaning. They found an old puzzle that my girlfriend had given us oh so many years ago. It's of her son, Andrew, who is now in college, and Yusef when he was about 9 months old. It took awhile, but the boys managed to put it together and I had some puzzle saver glue that I bought years and years ago and never used, so it was put to use yesterday. Now we can get the puzzle framed. I can't believe that 13 years later, we still have all the pieces. Yusef used to play with it when he was little and would scatter them everywhere.

Thursday evening, I finished the trellis scarf that I started the previous week. I've put it here with a brown sweater and old purple and gold broach. I'm happy with the results since it was my first attempt with a new pattern. I will do another in black as it will go with more outfits.

We were back at school today and I must go iron clothes and get uniforms ready for the kids. Wishing you much peace and warmth as your weekend draws to a close. Have a great Monday! Blessings, Tammy

You have such a lovely home and I'm amazed at the wonderful job you did on the beautiful scarf/shawl - it's gorgeous. :-)

Silver is a favorite of mine - to wear and to own. I love silvery-sparkly-grey... you featured some lovely and fun items in your post.

Hope you have a great week!

You have been busy the last few days. I love th silver things you found, and LOVE the picture of Sam's great grandfather. Really neat that you have that. Omar's mom has a few pictures of her dad, but not many of Omar's dad around. I framed one picture I found of him last year and put it up on the wall.
Cool puzzle of Yusef and Andrew. I am sure Lisa would be amused to know that you found it and still have all the pieces.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the shawl you did. What a fantastic stitch, and it looks perfect with the broach and color of shirt you found. REALLY NICE!!
Hope you are feeling better after the marathon cleaning. I hate those days, althought it usually does not hit me until a few days after I have cleaned. You must have cleaned A LOT for it to hit you the next day!! HA!
Hope work does not keep you too busy for the next few days!

Love ya,
Renee

Oh Tammy that scarf is beautiful! Something like that would have taken me forever and here you are talking about making a black one.
Your home is so pretty. I love to move things around as well. makes me feel like I have a whole new home sometimes. I tend to get bored in the Winter.
Your boys were good to stay ou of the way while you got your cleaning done. The puzzle was a cute diversion.

I just love that scarf, but I think I love the puzzle the most. Wow, that Yusef was a little cutie! And just look at all that hair! :-)

Take a break from all that cleaning, haven't you heard that too much housework makes you ugly?
*grin* ;-)

Have a great week!

I love the puzzle photo Tammy. Yusef is adorable. The scarf turned out so nice, and the enamelware looks so pretty, but I do hate cleaning the tops of cabinets and shelves :-)
Blessings,
Marcia

Hi Tammy,
Thanks for your recent visit and kind comments.
It always amazes me that people from all over the world visit my humble little blog. I am going to come back and read your archives and hopefully learn more about Kuwait and the places you have visited.
I love what you have done with your new tin pieces in the kitchen. Blue and yellow are my favorite colors. A happy combination, I think.
The shawl that you made is gorgeous.

Hi, Tammy,
Your living room looks very inviting! I like to change things around, too. It makes it seem like a new room. I also think your new enamelware looks so pretty in your kitchen. The scarf you made is very attractive. I like the brooch with it. I have noticed that scarves are very popular this year. Hope you and your family have a lovely week! Vicki

Hey Tammy! You and your cousin Gwen crack me up! Your scarf is beautiful - I can only knit a simple scarf and even then I don't hold the needles right! Great puzzle of the kids, doesn't it feel good when you can finally use things that you bought and intended to use so long ago! Have a good Tuesday,
Sharon :-)

So much to see. Gosh, I ♥ the photo of your husband's great grandfather. I absolutely treasure the pictures I have of my older family members. My parents had me later in life so quite a few of my ancestors I only know through precious photos.

Your scarf is gorgeous! How in the world do you find the time to do all that you do? You are such a busy lady.

The puzzle, too cute! Our children grow up too quickly, don't they? Time zooms by and leaves us in its wake...

As many times as I have been to your place, I still probally have not really seen all your knick knacks....HA! With everything you have to clean and move, I'm not surprised that you are sore and achy. Maybe you should clean everyday to get a good workout...and its FREE! Love the photo puzzle and am thinking of getting a couple done for my kids. That shaw is amazing and am sure you will receive many compliments on it when you where it. Going back to school this week has been a little bit of a shock to my system but I'm managing. Funny thing is, I find myself getting back on track and catching up on things that I should have done on that long 3 week break...go figure????
